"Silver’s Runaway Rally Sweeps Up Amateur Investors":
https://wsj.com/finance/commodities-futures/silvers-runaway-rally-sweeps-up-amateur-investors-629799e7

Of note, this:

Chris Pollock, founder and managing partner of Canada Gold, a retail chain that buys and sells precious metals in Canada and the Northwest U.S., said that ounces of silver sold in December are up around 150% from a year earlier. Sales on Monday (22 December 2025] were the chain’s largest on record, he said, beating the next biggest day by around 50%.

I sold a 100oz bar yesterday and there were some retail buyers in the shop. A few weeks ago when I sold some gold, there were no retail buyers. One guy buying was a first timer...he didnt know what he was buying (guided by a friend). He just said "I want some of those that are $76". His buddy told him to buy 1/2 oz because they are easier to trade. Meanwhile i plunked down a 100oz and traded it in about 2 minutes. Retail coming in after a 50% move in a month is usually a contrarian sign, which you know.

I think the contrarian sign would be retail buyers disappearing while the price is still going up.

They did disappear on the run from 50 to 75. Now they step in. Classic.

If so, that just started. Too early to be "contrarian", although I would not be surprised to see the silver price drop to $55 within a week or two. Either way, I am not really buying or selling at this time, except what I need for minting projects.

When USA markets fully open up after the holidays, it will be "interesting" to see where things go.
My guess is that silver will stabilize somewhat at around $63 by mid-January.

Yes, I posted in another thread, for three months as it passed thru 50, no buyers period, zero, now in the past few days buyers calling and going frantic to get it, people I have never heard or seen before calling wanting it at 75-80. Some as stated in other threads, people not knowing how to buy or the process, who have no clue or are first time buyers, calling saying they heard about the price rise and want to get in on it how does it work!!!

I was going to say the same thing. The time to sell isn't when the buying starts, it's when the buying reaches manic/panic levels. That's coming eventually.

I suspect it'll go something like this...
Once the low/no premium silver starts to become scarce, attention will shift to the premium silver products and you'll see the noob silver buyers parroting the sales pitches about why their slabbed MS70 Silver Eagles & medals or ATB silver coins (or even numismatic) are a better to buy and have more potential for appreciation and eventually we'll start to see real premiums for MS64 and MS65 Morgan dollars again. That's my theory anyway.

Everyone loves silver when its going up. The trouble is that it eventually goes back down. And its not so liquid as you think. This is probably a good time to follect clads.

The last reason I stack is for liquidity. Liquidity is for the toilet paper.

Except that's impossible to do in the moment. "High" and "Low" are relative terms that can only be established once we have more chart history.

I was buying it as a somewhat speculative investment when it was in the $15-20 range, not as a doomsday safety net. If that occurs someone with more or bigger guns would likely take it from me anyway. Happy that I started selling at $60+ and will continue, and will be happy for the buyers if it goes to $100.

I was there in 1980 and 99% of the people in line were selling.
If there are lines now, and most of the people in line are buying, then I don't think this run-up is over yet.

This go around has been gaining momentum at four months now. People have been coming out and dumping since then. Not at anything close to a mania like stampede, but it's been steady. That's why we got back to the refining glut again. Lots of people have dumped their load already over that strung out time period. They have probably very little to bring now.

I was at my LCS on Friday. They had no 90% and had several younger people come in to buy Silver eagles and some bar .999. I could tell it was their first time in the place. People are buying silver, period.

Certainly not in the commonwealth. My dealers can't remember the last time they had a gutter buyer. RGDS!
