As the tumultuous year of 2025 draws to a close, the post-COVID market craziness continues. Prices up. Availability down. Metals wild!
In trying to select my 3 best acquisitions for 2025, I found I actually had a very good year, despite all the doom and gloom. While my primary collection did see a few nice additions (despite the nosebleed prices), since my interests are varied, I was able to acquire plenty of other items of interest for my collections. Wasn't it @MrEureka who said something along the lines of "If you are priced out of your primary collecting interest, change your interest." Maybe my interest is changing organically?
Here are my 3 best world acquisitions for 2025:
A nice Mexican Republic 4E with a fantastic pedigree:
A Soho Mint pattern in silver for the Guanajuato (Mexico) Mint:
The model or prototype for the Mexican eagle of Durango:
And since I managed to acquire some great US pieces this year, here are my 3 best US acquisitions for 2025:
The "very first" numismatic item struck by steam power in the USA, pedigreed to Robert M Patterson, the US Mint Director at the time of striking:

A gilt "Feb 22" first steam coinage medal (which was actually not struck by steam power):
A gilt "Mar 23" first steam coinage medal also pedigreed to Robert M Patterson:

Great additions! I love the 8R! You always have stretched for the right coins.
Latin American Collection
Fantastic. The 8R is just awesome and I really really like that Durango eagle.
Congrats on some great pickups this year.
I think my favourite is the 4 escudos. That is a super coin! @pruebas never disappoints.
That Soho pattern is amazing, as is the Durango eagle. The other coins are beautiful and historic as well. Congrats on an outstanding year!
@pruebas awesome thanks for sharing!
