The only reliable historical numbers that matter exist on my spreadsheet, and I'm still stunned by the values. I know within a tenth of a percent how well each purchase that I've made at each specific point in time has done.
I'm blown away by the change in my net worth, even accounting for any discounts or premiums when I decide to sell. My biggest financial problem is capital gains tax, which I try to plan around.

No way! But thanks. The whole point of owning physical metals is because of the risk involved in paper and 3rd party solvency. It's not a video game that puts numbers up on a screen. Each to his own, but the "system" is already on very thin ice, and it pays to be prudent with real money.

Do reliable historical numbers for 90%, ASEs and 100oz bars even exist?
No.
Sure they do. Just check the BST archives on this forum. Or, and most old-timers on this forum could confirm, the premiums on Silver at the time. 90% was usually 5-10% over spot. ASEs were 10-20% over spot and bars about 10% over spot. Today 90% is 10-15 under spot. ASEs ar about spot and bars about 5% under. Now all you need to do is find spot. Google is your friend.
You said reliable historical numbers. You obviously think this little forum is that.

Getting back to the OP's original intention with this thread - I have a question. I may have a need to sell a quantity of 90% in the near future. It is over $1,200 in face - around $750 in dimes and $475 in quarters. I don't want to deal with shipping it but I also don't have a problem driving to a reputable dealer that's paying top dollar within four hours or so of where I live (central South Carolina). Anyone have any good suggestions? Thanks!

Brian Vermillion stated in today's video ^ that they answer phone calls for the first half hour to forty-five minutes of their business day and then turn the phone OFF. Otherwise, they wouldn't get anything done. BUCKLE UP BUTTERCUPS!
I would make the drive to Spring Hill. Vermillion is very upfront about the current premiums & discounts and they compare favorably with the shop closest to me that I deal with.
However, if you don't need to sell it for a necessary expense, I would recommend keeping ahold of it.

Ya, in todays video he warned to not call the shop. They are not answering any phone calls as business has absolutely exploded. He talked about in this video that 2011 had nothing on what is happening now. If you can't come into the B&M they want you to e-mail them. No phone calls.

Actually, I am going to be at the FUN show from Wednesday thru Sunday. I called a couple of local South Carolina dealers and the best offer was 38x face. Since I'm flying to the FUN show, I guess I'm going to have to figure out how to stuff it all in my luggage.

I'm not too hopeful about selling 90% silver at FUN. They need to get the bulk home.

the two main companies we ship too yesterday was minus 6.50 and minus 7.50 on 90% , there is another place at -5.85 but they take several weeks to get paid. Just stopped by the local hole-in-the-wall LCD. Brought a few ounces of US gold and some silver.
Sold the gold at spot.
They weren’t buying ASEs. Said he had bought 30k of them and can’t move them. There were several sellers in the place. Sounded like it’s been a constant flow of sellers.

Weak dealer. They all can move them to wholesalers.
Wholesalers LOVE ASE's. Unless they all nasty culls which would be surprising being 30k worth.. Worst case would be the smelter. Sounds like that's a dealer with no capital. I wouldn't go back there.

You are dipping ASE's to garnish another buck or two? That's the difference at a REAL DEALER hahahah insane
I'll add a couple data points from Southeast Michigan coin shops: one is paying 58x face for 90%, while the other is paying 55x - while melt is a skosh over 69x. What are others seeing?

From what I am seeing, if a person wanted to buy Silver Eagles, that is the lowest price by quite a bit (+1 or +6).
Their sell price for them (+1 for off-quality) is lower than their "Generic" 999 silver sell price (which is +2).
That makes me wonder about the accuracy of those numbers.

Vermillion is the LCS's nightmare... Brain is more than fair and POSTS his Buy sell pricing daily... Kudos to him. another FAIR and online way to sell at quoted and locked in pricing is thru Collect Pure.
LCS... days are numbered. IMHO.
Another superb and transparent pricing/spread update by Vermillion Enterprises in FL today! Plus, disco on goings on in the industry .... the GOOD the BAD and the UGLY. They do it nearly every day. I URGE all of you to find a similar source more local to you! So, we can get away from what have been historically AWFUL content from a very loud minority here with unverified tales of walking into shops that always go unnamed and undocumented.
Imagine that! Transparent BUY & SELL spreads to the PUBLIC on the regular. THAT's a professional DEALER! THEY ARE OUT THERE!

I have a LCS, and neither Brian at Vermillion in Florida, or Dave at Coinhuskers in Nebraska ( who’s published spreads are just as fair)
are nightmares, or competitors.
Most of us have thin margins and stay in business, because we are fair.
I believe all our days are numbered and see Brian and Dave as facilitators and middle men who are go to guys when we (other LCS) need metal or have metal to move.

Uh uh. Right.. As if these fake news "shops" blitz never actually visits OR NAMES (LOLzzz) are BIG potatoes? Hahahahahahah .... YAWN .... Just more low brow content. This poor awesome old school forum deserves much better.
Unfortunately, you can't own physical metals outright in a Roth IRA.
Exactly! Which is why you should think twice before keeping any funds in an IRA or a Roth.
You should get yourself a copy of The Great Taking, watch the youtube trailers by David Rogers Webb, and realize the risk you are taking by keeping money in the system. Whether you have money in the bank, an IRA, a mutual fund, the stock market or any other financial institution you are an unsecured creditor in a system that is bankrupt, saturated with unpayable debt, hyperextended with financial derivatives and increasingly illiquid.
The wars are only intended to distract you from the incoming defaults, but the costs of the wars will only accelerate the inevitable outcome.

Well, at least I have two "Agrees" and one "Like" on my post. Your's, not so much.
Also, you have a history of bad predictions, such as 120:1 gold:silver ratio and sub-$20 silver, among others.
You also admitted to pulling numbers out of your nether region and using those numbers, as if they were fact, in a discussion about silver in batteries.

MIKE B.
COPPER is gutter !

'Cant sell ASEs' is not a phrase I've heard...
I had to spend the better part of yesterday dipping ASEs to rid them of the nasty toning and giving them the ole Weiman's wipe to remove all the ugly milk spots. I got spot -$0.50 and dumped 640 of them. I better get moving on the next batch. LoLZ. Thank god my gold doesn't have such problems. RGDS!

@MrScience
Metrowest Massachusetts I'm seeing 50x to 58x face

40% JUNK - BUY -13 SPOT SELL -8 SPOT

ASE OFF QUALITY or less than full tubes - BUY SPOT -2 SELL SPOT +1
ASE RETAIL FRIENDLY BU FULL TUBES SAME YEAR ONLY - BUY SPOT +2 SELL SPOT + 6
SOLID ^^^^ give them a shout!
COPPER is gutter !

.
From what I am seeing, if a person wanted to buy Silver Eagles, that is the lowest price by quite a bit (+1 or +6).
Their sell price for them (+1 for off-quality) is lower than their "Generic" 999 silver sell price (which is +2).
That makes me wonder about the accuracy of those numbers.
.
Go to 8:20 on their update ...

Meanwhile, back in the real world.......THKS!

Brian is small potatoes. He's in it more for generating youtube views than he is moving any significant quantity of PMs. Personally, I wouldn't put much stock into his youtube "shows". RGDS!

Do you actually think that anyone puts any stock into whatever you write on this forum ?
Vermillion appears to have realistic buy/sell spreads, unlike the fantasy shops you always talk about but never name.

Unfortunately, you can't own physical metals outright in a Roth IRA.
Small potatoes? Have you dealt with him?

blitz belches out that an extremely transparent & well-known local shop in FL that openly updates (nearly every day) real BUY & SELL spreads to the public through a platform much more modern than this one ...... is small potatoes.
Uh uh.

I knew it would happen.
