Quick question
I was looking at my 1973 proof set and would like to see if someone could give me any insight as to what happened.
My nickel broke off around the rim, I believe I can see the piece that broke off too. There is no damage to the case, just the nickel. I don’t remember seeing it before, but it’s been a long time since I looked.
I was wondering if anyone thought this is pmd or if it could be a mint damage. Thank you for any insight you can give me.

It's probably just the plastic that cracked.

Those proof set cases are easy to open. I'm also certain you'll find it's the case that is cracked.

It's the cracked plastic of the case. It is not the coin.

It finally cracked 😳
