70S SD from Ben The CoinGeek...PCGS 65?

A screen shot from Ben The CoinGeek's latest video, this coin graded as 65 at our host. But I'm sure you're all seeing the shoulder and lapel marks. Did the graders decide this was pre-strike planchet damage? A strike through? If it is PMD it seems like a lot for a 65 IMH(and usually useless)O

Philately will get you nowhere....

    I think 65 is generous, those are pretty deep and noticeable, the ear is also kinda chewed up.

    That's why I'm wondering if the graders decided those marks were pre-striking or even a strike-through.

    Graders make mistakes, this is one of those. Those marks are not pre strike marks.

    The marks on the shoulder and near the collar happened after the coin was struck. Marks like that, in such a prominently visible area, look pretty bad. Of course, we don't know what the rest of the coin looks like.

    Saw his video earlier today and I think if we voiced any obvious thoughts on the grade of that cent, we would be stretching what our hosts would view as proper demeanor on the site.

    The 63 looked MUCH better . . .

    Amazing they allow deep gouges like that but God forbid a coin is "scratched". !!! Cant have that

    The MS65 had nicer fields than the MS63s & MS64s, along with the least amount of haze, but it was more beat up on the devices compared to the other coins in the same submission.

    Interesting that that was the one coin to get a MS65 grade, rather than get a "net grade" of MS63 or MS64.
