What's the use of the "MACge" sticker I see from time to time? Seems like a silly marketing gimmick.

Curious since I acquire moderns from time to time and am seeing this sticker occasionally and seemingly randomly on various coins. I perceive no particularly better or worse qualities for the slabs that I have with the sticker.

    They were an attempt to generate revenue in the stickering business, assert their own coins were worth more than they were in eBay sales, and trademark a bunch of grade superlatives, presumably so that people or businesses that used them could be sued. I don't think they're around anymore, but I would remove their stickers either way.

    These guys were pushing the concept of “MACable” coins for a while. They basically just stickered their own inventory in so far as I could ever really tell.

    They had green and gold just like CAC and also stickers for “rainbow”, “5 full steps”, something to do with Libertys thumb on WLHs, and other stuff like that.

    Adds zero premium.

    I'd almost like to see the mint do something with the well known military bases around the world it being there base flag. A hash tag or something on the coin

    I own a few of these. However, they were not bought nor considered based on the sticker. Much like my thoughts on those silly beans. It was soley on quality and eye appeal of the grade, which is at the upper end of said grade. A coincidence? I can not say for certain, only that they seem to sell at a slightly lower price than those without. As for a dealer, sticker aside, he is top notch. Open to negotiation on the price, quick to ship and always accepts returns.

    The sticker(s) were removed within hours of taking delivery. ⇊

    The stickers had no influence on my purchase decision. Not for me.

    I bought one from them for my toned '64-70 50C Silver business strike set, as it was a good fit...

    In searching through some moderns lately, I've noticed these stickers on a plethora of coins in the specific coins I've searched through, and some sellers, and these sellers have a good # of completed transactions (ie, some big name sellers), and damn, if they don't jack the price up because of these stickers. A non-PL or non-DMPL coin (judged PL/DMPL by the TPG, and noted on the cert) has their 'PL', or 'DMPL' stickers on it, and they're trying to get actual 'PL' or 'DMPL' for these coins.

    I'll come up with something.

    Oh, I am well acquainted with Mr. Hagger. Don't even get me started on the time he screeched at me for not taking ACG grading seriously -- this was at least 20 years ago at the FUN Show.

    I had never heard of his affiliation with any kind of stickering scheme until this thread, but it all makes sense to me now..

    The funny thing is ACG slabs, especially the photo slabs and old blue label slabs with various addresses, are now quite collectable among slab collectors. I wish I would have bought them all up when no one took them seriously.
