90% junk silver . . . . but not any more

Assembled from my "junk silver" purchases of 2025. With no more shows, etc. planned, this is as far as I can take it this year, but I'm going to keep it going next year as well.

That Roosevelt dime set is FAR from junk. This is how collectors should pick their coins. How you fine them is the thrill of the hunt, Forget the price and get the eye appeal.

Copyright 1945! However, I believe it was actually manufactured in the late 1950s. The fact that it has a slot for "1965-D" was the main reason why I rescued the folder itself from a junk pile of "giveaway" items at a coin club auction. The folder itself was in pristine condition when I acquired it.

While Tallahassee has a pretty low key coin market, it might actually be an advantage for acquiring slightly better material "accidentally" kept aside. I have also put together at least 20 different BU Washington quarters in similar fashion.

Weirdly, the most common BU date of Roosevelt dimes for me was 1961-D. I have assembled well over a roll and a half of them.

Actually, since the mintages are included for 1963, That folder was made in 1964 or 1965.

Some coins are collectible. All are salvageable. “Junk” is the “key” to never getting actual worth from the person who’s buying. After all, a buyer and seller have to agree that it’s junk. If one prefers to diminish its value with such terminology, there will be a market forever. One man’s junk….

Typically, it's considered junk when the dealer is trying to buy from you and overpriced treasure when they are trying to sell it to you. RGDS!

While I agree , in part, I’m not the one (dealer) referring to silver as junk. It is typically the sellers calling it that.
