I brought a $10 tube of 90% proof quarters to a show today in NC. Mostly '60's but a few '50's and some light cameos. Only one dealer was interested and offered $300. My cost is well below that but I'll hang on to it instead. Wish I had read this thread before I went to the show.

A roll like that won't have a premium over circulated 90% silver these days and will be discounted below spot silver, but the going rate for such a roll should be much closer to $380 or $390 from a competitive dealer at current levels.

Nah, he just went to a show with likely a mix of poor “dealers” , scammers, and posers.
There are plenty of fair outlets. But you know that.

Can Gold Eagles be sold for anything above spot these days? I wonder if he has looked at that.

Yes, I can move AGE, AGB and GMLs at spot, but why on earth would I want to do that? Krugs, 90% European and Mexican gold 98% all day long. These guys trying to sell their gutter they are being offered -10%, -20%, -30% back of spot. Some even worse. Nobody wants it. RGDS!

If gold is selling below spot, does that qualify as "gutter"?

Reading comprehension 101: The question asked, that you even quoted, was if gold eagles could be sold for anything ABOVE spot....to which you replied you can move them AT SPOT.

    Above does NOT equal at.

I've passed over your posts as they add very little to nothing.
Now, it's making me find the current forum's way to just ignore you completely and not see your posts. Thanks for making me take the extra effort

Well, this is the Precious Metals forum. I’m sure im not alone is this sub forum who doesn’t give a horses patoot about numismatic anything.

the idea is to stay on topic, but there is crossover. I used to do both. to say ""doesn't give..." is insulting, especially on the pcgs website made for collectors

It's an OPINION based on a comment regarding numismatics where there IS a sub forum for that. I'm talking about 90% That's ON TOPIC lolz

Actually, your comment was an opinion against numismatics in general while my comment was an opinion as to why I do not see 90% silver as a desirable precious metals investment (which is on topic).

my comment was an opinion as to why I do not see 90% silver as a desirable precious metals investment (which is on topic).

If 90% will be melted until the remaining coins regain numismatic value - which may be true - I tend to think that just that factor alone enhances 90% silver as a precious metals investment. It certainly doesn't detract from it as a precious metals investment, in my opinion.

Watching a video on premiums this morning, Vermillion in Tampa is buying 90% silver at Spot minus $7, and selling 90% silver for Spot minus $5.

This works out to about 3.5%, compared to what I recently paid which was about a 7% spread.

This must take into account that they aren't shipping anything until after Jan. 1st, so having the silver in-hand might actually be worth the extra 3.5% (minus shipping of course).

BTW, I do not see metals as an investment. To me it's a safe haven from the printing press.

That used to be my view but there are too many middlemen, or tedious management of sales, to be desirable for me any more. I suppose that In now a consumer of precious metals (jewelry) rather than an investor.

That doesn’t mean your, or others’ opinions are invalid. Time will tell.

    No problem 👍

Your view as a safe haven is valid, as long as one has suitable safe storage.
It makes more sense to me than crypto but I’ve been wrong about that so far.
