Good catch/eye @Coinscratch - No, the album actually ends on the next page, 90-D. Not much to look at there.

Several years ago, I was looking for a Jefferson Dansco album that ended in 1964 but I couldn't find one. This was the only one I could find at the time, so I used it and just filled up the pages.

I too search for these early Dansco albums. I have one from 1964 for Kennedy halves. It only has the 1964 labeled and the rest of the page offers no labels.

Here the the closest Jefferson album I have located. Not 1964. It does end with 1970.

Yes, that was something along the lines I was looking for.

@OldIndianNutKase, OINK, what a beautiful grouping of colorfully toned early Jefferson proofs. Quite impressive. I myself would aim for a set like yours. Thanks for showing them. Zack

Definetly an underrated series. I'm going to buy a nice high grade toner for my box of 20.

I had a whole box of these war nickels and could not give them away a few years ago, now they seem to have gained in popularity?

@oih82w8 - Is that a DC? I really like that one! What would the official name of that coin be?

Took a while to find the reverse photos. The 60 reverse is pretty well struck.

    I love colorful Jeffersons!

There was a period of a few years, 2006-2008-ish, when my coin collecting budget was vanishingly small but I wanted a good project, and my raw unc Jefferson set kept me active and entertained. They're not all beautifully toned, but I sought out really eye appealing examples and bought them when I could. They're still one of the things I get out and look at the most often.

Some very beautiful Jeffersons guys. I sure could use one in PCGS AU-58+.

  • I aggressively collect toned Jefferson nickels and have so many it'd be about impossible to pick just one or two to post :) . These and toned Roosevelt dimes are hands-down my favorite modern series to collect.

Are they straight graded NT or questionable AT's? If they aren't straight graded slabbed, I pretty much avoid them.

Curiously, I avoid slabbed ones. I am not about to pay an enormous premium for certified coins that I can find for a little above face value - haha!

My strategy is to purchase nicer album collections and cherry pick the one or two tremendous example that can sometimes be had on the cheap.

Recent example that I like and bought for around 10 cents, as the whole partial Whitman album set cost me less than five dollars:

EDIT: "You" must have a good eye. I sure can't tell between NT or AT man made damaged/detailed ones.

  • Here's another example that I also purchased within the past month, for a grand total of. . . . zero cents! So even if it could be "proven" to be AT (which I do not in any way believe), I cannot have gotten ripped off. By the way, I bought this whole partial Roosevelt album only for this one coin, but have already sold the rest of the album for a profit, which means I actually have this dime AND leftover cash after all is said and done, and it was easy.

Here's a pretty toned ANACS Proof 68 with 5.5 steps. I recall there was some controversy about these coins about a decade ago. Does PCGS (or NGC) straight grade them currently? Would this coin cross at either service?
