What's holding it back? A little "dark" toning that takes away from an overall focused "look" of a 67? You could ask them to do a little conservation and if it upgrades they'd get a big chunk of money as an incentive.
Gold stickers seem to be all the rage. Good for value.
If it's for a registry set it might make sense.
If it were just in the collection I would leave it be.

A local dealer had a "star" "plus" graded key date Walking liberty half, he doesn't do multiple submissions. Someone else bought it likely seeing the registry set upgrade potential.
Why did you say it took more than one submission? NGC will assign a star and a plus if they feel the coin deserves both, no second submission required.

Due to the variability of grading, however slight, doing multiple attempts at a higher grade makes some sense. The local dealer doesn't try after the first "best" grade. If they'll call it star plus, why not the next higher grade if sent in raw?

Well @FlyingAl , let's circle back to your question and a possible place it came from.
Last night on GC there was a 1941-D MS66FB Gold CAC Mercury dime in OGH. When you saw it you knew it was a DDO/DDR FS 101/801. I saw it as a Top Pop (1 of 11) for the date. It now stands out as a possible top pop for all CAC coins if it were to obtain the 67FB statis.
It is now safe in my Gold CAC only Merc set. Thanks for pointing that out. I was determined to win it but that information just added fun to the chase. Cool coin to own for sure.
I had it saved on my Watchlist, and after you post showing your other gold bean mercs, I was thinking you would be bidding on it, congrats!
I'd leave as is and not crack out. The coin most likely isn't going to change so the OGH and the gold bean is nice window dressing to show off making it even more unique. I'd find another top pop to fill the slot.
I have doubts the the MS66 1941-D dime is a 67. Don’t like the dark area left obv. Top obv worse. Are those dark spots in it? Have you shopped the coin around the bourse? Who is going to pay 67 money or more for that? Over time I believe the dark area may get worse.

Taking a more close look. Unsure it will make 67.
It already sold for over 67+ money. This would invalidate every single point you made.

Also, it's clearly 67 quality.
Come on, Alex, it’s possible that he’s a better grader than CAC and knows the market for such coins better than the buyers and seller who handled it.😉

LOL. In that case I feel sorry for the buyer.
Lol. Can you send me your inventory so I can buy all of your superb gems at 63 prices?
As the owner of this coin in question, I am very happy to be receiving it tomorrow.
Those that don't understand collecting coins is a hobby are lost. Enjoy what you collect. I have no interest in trying to walk around a bourse and see if I can profit. It is really too bad there are some in the hobby that can't just enjoy the coins for what they are.
I see that you've left an LOL on my post about buying some of your coins for sale. I hope you know I'm dead serious - you should have some insane quality coins at laughably low prices the way you make comments here.
Put your money where your mouth is. Let me buy them.
Edit: another LOL I see. A dealer with no coins must not be a dealer at all.

Here's the coin in question for anyone wondering.
This would be a top pop DDO/DDR FS-101/801 in a MS67 holder.

@logger7 The biggest thing holding it back is that it now sits in a collection that consists of only Gold CAC Mercs
