Collector built a collection of around 100 coins thru dealer and auctions.
Sells some years later the collection for a profit.
Walks reader coin by coin thru process.
This collector (author?) died a few years back.
Lost my copy and is not popular in searches.
Probably 1990's

I don't think you are writing about this though will hazard a guess, anyway, but could it be Jay Parrino's publication of "The Knoxville Collection"?

Robert W. Shippee. I have the book and it’s a great read. I thoroughly enjoyed it from cover to cover.
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

The pleasure and profit book is a good one.
Agreed.
Wish it was a collecting model I followed after reading it some 20 years ago.
One of the best balancing selection, collecting, and profiting. No other book I know of gives such insight
