The Navy and Army one did the same thing. Can't answer what it means but don't worry, you will receive your coin. I just got my confirmation email also and mine shows the "ON AL HOLD". RGDS!

I swore I wouldn't play the mints game anymore but it's our 250th birthday and at Tun Tavern (Yes, our Birthplace is a bar) each recruit got a silver dollar upon enlisting. I finally got my silver dollar.
Survey says: Are these privy coins considered necessary for a complete silver eagle set? Just wondering how many eagle people there are left who started a set in 1986 and are still trying to keep the run going. Or are these just nuisance trinkets.

I expect these to be available tomorrow when the cancellations start.
If you don't get one tomorrow at 7:30am EST, then all bets are off!
Nah. Given how quickly they sold out, and the fact that they are going to be on pre-order for around a month, I think there will be a ton of Mint initiated cancellations, for days on end, and the gamers keep gaming and the Mint keeps on purging.
The only wild card here is going to be whether they keep the HHL on for an extended period of time, as they did for the Army, or whether they will remove it at noon tomorrow, as they did for the Navy. Either way, there will be plenty of opportunities beyond 7:30 tomorrow before the finally sell out for real.
Thats because no one has Ever been drafted into the Corps. The Corps has and always be an All-volunteer Force in Readiness
I do believe the Marine Corps did have to draft a few in the late 60's, early 70's.
But before the Vietnam time-period, the Marine Corps never had to draft anyone...as the Greatest Generation proudly filled the ranks, especially during WW-II and the Korean Conflict.
The only services that truly never directly drafted anyone, to date, has been the USAF and USCG. I'm not counting the USSF as there has not been a draft board assembled since the early 1970's.

Pinehurst started the morning at $175, is now $130. Not sure it is worth the effort at $19 profit less shipping.
I am missing something, I don't see it for $130 or for any amount on Pinehurst.
That's a buy price, not what they are willing to sell at. You aren't looking in the right place, and it doesn't matter unless you have some you want to sell to a dealer.

OK, so now I am curious. If it is preorder and scheduled to 'begin' shipping in Dec/Jan, then when is the official cut off for grading 'First Strike" 'Early release' etc ??
30 days from today ??
aside: yeah my order on the Mint website changed from "confirmed" to "processing" and now "backorder".
Another question: on this board or other coin forums, I have read the "rumor" that this marine privy was going to be delayed in production because of so called' silver shortage', call it 'base material issue'. Any insights on this scuttle butt??

Good question! PCGS needs to get them within 30 days of issue or in mint packing postmarked within 30 days of issue. So given that PCGS has already graded 445 of them, interpreting their policy the most generous way possible, none of the coins we ordered today will qualify for First Strike if they are shipped 12/11 or later.

Nope. Those are all Advance Release. First Strike for regular release will be 30 days from when they first ship to the public. Tentatively scheduled for mid-December.
Not from when Advance Release first ship to the Big Boys. The deadline will be sometime in January. Not 12/11.

Now why is it that they have minted/sold/shipped some to the "Bug Guys" days/weeks ago but have none available for us peasants? They had plenty of time to fit these into their schedule... In fact, they made the schedule.

This is to allow the big boys time to sell their overpriced coins with limited competition. Look, up in the sky, is it a bird or a plane dropping that stuff?

If you look at every First Strike coin, on the back of the label it says, "Delivered Within First 30 Days of Initial Release."
If you look at the Pop Chart, they've already graded First Strike and First Day of Issue coins. The First Strike 30-day clock has started ticking. If these start shipping forum members on Dec 1, and I send in a coin for grading on Dec 26, then the First Strike window would be more than 30 days.

It has not. I PROMISE you.
You'll see. If you don't believe me, feel free to call them tomorrow and ask.
This is not something we need to debate back and forth, with speculation and opinion. There is a definitive answer, and it can be provided by our hosts upon request.
This coin has not yet been "released." It was just pre-released to selected Big Boys.
The "release" was scheduled for 11/10, but, as announced on their website, that date has been pushed back to mid-December. It was only placed on pre-sale because 11/10 is the relevant anniversary date, and they wanted to stick to it.

How can it be argued that the first strike period has not begun if First Strike coins are already in the pop report? Are you saying the First Strike period gets paused between the time the bulk buyers get theirs and they start shipping retail? Where is that in the PCGS policies? The PCGS policies are pretty clear, it is a 30 day window. I am sure PCGS will find a way to bend the rule because they make bank off of printing two words on a label, but that's what their policies clearly say.

I'm not sure how you can say they've not been released if they are already in dealer's hands. That's pretty much the definition of release.

In the past such themed coins would probably be classed as commemoratives. So are they commems, bullion, coin of the realm, or all of the above?
