Rare Anacs 7.0 Holder Question

Just curious if this anacs hold would have a premium onto of the coins value since its such a rare holder. And if so how much? Obviously I kniw this would only matter to people that were into these old holders.

Nice coin, but only the "gold" or "yellow" holders have a grade guarantee, only authenticity is guaranteed.

How much of a premium did you pay to acquire it, that should answer your question.

    Why is it rare?

These are rare? I thought they were current but with some weirdly specific use case.
    They feel really flimsy.

I have not seen these go for a premium and consider them semi-scarce, not rare.

Easiest TPG holders out there to crack.

The holder in the OP is NOT a OSH Gen 7.0.

Look at the location of the ANACS logo on the front of the label. On a 7.0, it is above the grade line. On the subject holder, it is aligned with the grade line.

Additionally, the 7.0 holder does not include a website address on the rear of the label. The subject one does.

On the slab you have pointed out it states "America's Oldest Grading Service" prominently on the right-hand side of the cert, but the image from the website shows that a 7.0 is lacking this text on the obverse and instead shows it on the reverse. Truly, there are more differences than just that, so it should have been quick to discount this as the rare 7.0 slab.

I am not really familiar with ANACS holders.

Notwithstanding, if I were forced to make a GUESS, it appears to be a GEN 7.2. See the "full history" at the bottom of the page, specifically 'Appendix - Figure 8', for the different varieties.

These "quick release" holders were junk, which is probably why there aren't many of this specific generation. No premium in my book, but plastic collectors don't go by my book.

OP, this 1882-CC Morgan is in a ANACS Gen 7.2 holder. They were made for a year and a half and there are many available out there. Nothing rare or even scarce. I have a few and even cracked and crossed one to PCGS, where it was given a higher grade.

Here is a clip from the oldslabholders.com website, which is a great resource:

That's a custom label we have for dealer Chris McCawley. He specializes in colonials and large cents, but submits other stuff as well, and sells coins in our slabs alongside PCGS, NGC, and CAC both at his table and in auctions he runs. If you buy something we graded from him, there's a good chance it'll have the green label.

Not to derail this thread, but I wish that reholdering to get rid of advertisements for a dealer was discounted.

aren't blue and yellow holders when anacs ceased to be anacs, Maning no blue or yellow holder is worthy imo

I got a LOT of ANACS plastic boxes for these where they came out. Their "New Day" thing. They don't really fit anything else.

What do y'all mean by "quick release" holders. It doesn't sound good. :(

I know I am not who you asked, but that was the nickname for this generation of blue ANACS holders because they were so easy to open/crack out.

They could be twisted open in your hands or would open if dropped on a hard floor.
