My left eye is not coming back (vision is gone). So, now what do I do with only one eye?
I think the answer is clear.
I will now only collect:
Half Cents
Half Dimes
Half Dollars and
Half eagles.
Should be a real adventure as none of these are my collecting interests....Well, I guess I could add Pirate Booty, arg.

It takes strong inner character to make light of a situation such as this. Carry on AU, with the attitude you have you're gonna be OK.
If you expand your interests to UK coinage there is the half penny, half crown, half groat, and half sovereign.
And India had the half anna and half rupee.

My Mom is 92, lives alone in a 2 story, rides a bike and walks a lot, in better shape than me BUT about 60 years ago she came home in tears after finding out she was completely blind in her right eye (but as far as we could tell then or now she has always been) but drives and gets along just fine. I hope that you can adapt and it sounds like you have the positive attitude to do well. But to your question: I would go with half dollars.

WIth impaired depth perception, it's important that you look down at your feet wherever there is a step or irregular pathway. You will adjust to this over time, but falls in the seniors can be dangerous. Been there myself.

I'd say go with the half dimes, but they can be hard on the eyes. So maybe go with the larger coins. Take care of that right eye. Vision is precious.

I did multiple 400+ mile trips across SC/GA with one eye.
Just find a lane. The mind finds a way to compensate.
It was more parking and judging traffic, and I just planned right turns and stop lights into my routine.
It really does suck. Felt your pain and blessed every day that I was able to regain my vision.
Didn't even try to look at coins. Read very little. Couldn't tie a fishing knot. Simple things we take for granted.

LOL seems cruel but that was my first response.
I’m in the same boat (family history) and know that barring some accident it’s probably going to be one or the other. My preference is a massive one that sends me into the next life (absent from the body, present with the Lord) since I’ve seen what minor ones can do and I don’t want to put myself or my family through that ordeal.
Eat right, keep moving and at a minimum blood work every six months. I just finished 18 months of treatment for prostate cancer and my wife is cancer free six years after her surgery. For both of us the cancer was caught early before it had spread. Another year before the diagnosis could have made things a lot worse.
Sounds really tough. I am also sorry to hear about this. Im sure you will adjust. What choice do you have, right?
All I can say is thank God for coin collecting. Its a real stress reliever. You'd have to be one of us to understand that and im sure you are.

The reason I was asking, is because I have a couple of friends that actually refuse for go to the any doctors. They both have money and health insurance and still will not go! They're afraid of doctors! I think it's called white coat syndrome. Even if they are really sick, they don't want to know. They are afraid of hearing any back news.

I doubt you need a primer on how to walk at this age but will mention something I have learned from my wife. (She suffered a massive stroke at 16 and is blind on her left side + has only 60% mobility in her left leg.) It is always very important to stay aware of your enviroment. Even small changes in heights, (Curbs, tilted sidewalks, changes in carpet depth etc. all can present dangers to fall you would never have even considered before. We do an inspection of just about anywhere we are going to see if there are unexpected dangers; sounds overly dramatic but in truth you would be surprised how many common day things can become a challenge. good luck with your health and your collecting. Sucks getting older but it beats the alternative.
I’ve only had 1 eye that is functional since birth, I have a small amount of vision in my blind eye buts it’s very bad and not useful for much more than a shadowy bit of peripheral vision that’s sort of sideways and looks higher up in the air than where it should be. So when I look at anything like a person I also see a ghost like pixelated version of them crooked and up in the air to their right. And then my good eye developed a cataract, got operated on and was good for a while but went from being very nearsighted to being farsighted, then developed vitreous detachment that leaves a bunch of blood vessel floaters right in the middle of my field of vision. But none of this stops me from enjoying my coins.

I lost most of the vision in my left eye as a young boy of 8 due to infection. I’ve lived to currently 64 with the ever present awareness and fear of losing sight in my right eye. Depth perception and night driving have been a struggle my whole life. I wish you health and long life.
Sorry to hear that, but in the land of the blind the one-eyed man is King. Life can suck when you get older,btho the younger ones have their shares of issues. I see so many at Mayo and wonder why they are there. With the depth percerception be care when walking so you don't trip over things like curbs or steps.
