Interesting 'Draped Bust Dollar' Pickup Today

I bought this today at the B&M on the cheap, because I found it interesting. It appears to be one side of a brass 'Draped Bust Dollar' medal or token dated 1776. It is 40mm in diameter and is very thin (weight is 7.3 grams). The other side of it appears to have been milled out from the reverse of whatever this was, and then the edge was crudely folded over.

Does anyone know what this is? My main thought is that this may have been created for the 1876 Centennial...
