When did PCGS start grading buttons?
It's interesting the term "medal" is used, but also "button" is in the variety in the description. Is this something new?

If you are a collector of presidential inauguration medals, buttons are essentially your only choice for Washington. Just think of it as a medal with the loop attached to the back instead of the top.

A graded/slabbed button isn't too bad, Could be worse..............
The remains of a cricket in a PCGS slab sold for nearly $6,000 on Oct. 31 in a GreatCollections auction.

"When they can't find anything wrong with you, they create it!"
Would they also authenticate other types of buttons such as the revolutionary war era USA button?
You would think PCGS would want that slab off the market. The slabs are supposed to protect the coins. That cricket was damaged in the slab.

It would be awesome if someone from PCGS would comment here on what service tier this falls under. I have a GW button that I would love to have encapsulated. I had no idea this was possible.
I doubt it. These buttons are effectively a specific type of medal.

That cricket is way over graded! Do not send to CAC...
Would love to know if it's just these buttons, or if there are others that they grade/authenticate. Anyone know where to find more info?
