Just did my monthly glance at the site and saw there was an update for an upcoming auction on November 6 for central, eastern, and northern Europe. Beautiful coins, stupendous estimates...

The estimates are indeed stupendous. Stupendously low! I viewed the current sale in London during Coinex and was impressed. Probably won’t bid on much because the things being sold are too far from my primary areas of interest, and because I have better uses for the money right now. But the coins are really friggin’ cool.

Yes, except for one piece encased in a lunette.

I have not had much luck with British gold...

Why would you have to pay import taxes? On the gold coin or the catalog?
I'm in Ireland. We have to pay import taxes on both books and gold bought from outside the EU.
Peace
Ah, that explains it.
Curious if anyone has heard any updates on the sale of the collection? I check occasionally but haven't seen any changes for a while.
Anyone have a SWAG on who the collector was? Maybe the auction house will release some of the provenance documents on some of the pieces. Peace Roy

Amazing coins. And all 493 lots are high quality gold.
They couldn’t have picked a better time to sell them.
