    WOW

So weird we were just talking about this type of thing!

I hope they find out all the shady stuff going on and expose everyone who was or is in on it.

yep, the timing was uncanny. perhaps i'm cynical, but i've always been in the camp that sports are far dirtier than people give them credit for, and that story is just one example. i'd bet my life (pun intended) that the rigging of games is more prolific than most think.........all of the miscreants just haven't been caught yet.

money is the root, and people will sell their souls to the devil for it

"hey Terry Rozier, fake an injury in the 3rd quarter to ensure you don't score more than 8 points, and here's a cool million if you do."

    "you got it"

    it's as easy as that

    100% agreed

I read a separate article and it clearly stated Rozier was being investigated for awhile regarding his play so it should be interesting as more details come out

I hope they destroy everyone involved, shady stuff needs to be exposed and made aware to everyone

I can only imagine how deep this will go and if betting sites are in on it then I can see MASSIVE reimbursements to everyone who has lost money due to nefarious stuff going on

I hope they blow the lid off it

and lest we forget about Tim Donaghy. the NBA is dirty, dude.

and i can guarantee so is every other sport

tennis players throw matches all the time

even golfers have been caught in illegal gambling

so when someones says, "i can't imagine the NFL being involved in a racket over a Jared Goff touchdown that results in a swing of millions".......i obviously have no hard proof, but that would give me pause personally

that was a legit touchdown by him and when it was negated by the zebras, it negated millions in the process

i trust no one. except those who post in this thread. lol

everything is about money. everything. you could ask Roger Goodell to pick Bad Bunny out of a lineup and he'd choose Bugs Bunny. dude probably had no earthly idea who he was until Jay-Z came to him and said, "wanna make millions more during the Super Bowl?"

This is the finest marketing idea since the Bud Light episode.

Nothing like presenting something that over 99% of your fan base not only doesn't like, but detests. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

But I guess you're right, Goodell wanted to bring in non-fans during the halftime show for the commercial revenue. I for one will certainly not be watching a demented pervert prance up and down on a stage.

I've said this before. Why not give a cool college band each year, the opportunity to perform on a world stage? They are very entertaining and play a wide array of popular songs that everyone can enjoy. But I guess that makes too much sense for Roger.

I have read that tennis fixing scandals are like a cottage industry over in Europe. When handicapping a tennis match match, ya gotta factor in the cheat. Similar to harness racing.

Meanwhile my last pick, and it may be my last NBA pick for quite a while, a preseason 1,000-1 team, no typo, 1,000-1 odds to win the NBA championship, blows out a team that was 8-1 and one of the top five favorites.

Ridiculous beyond comprehension. No point in even trying to handicap absurd chit such as this. πŸ˜’

    Indiana ML

Only because I'm in dire need of a confidence builder.

i think i'm about to learn a 250-dollar lesson tomorrow. i couldn't hold my water and i impulsively stuck in a bet before it was etched in granite that Lamar Jackson was going to play against my boys. the Bears had been winning way too much, the Ravens' backs are against the wall, and rumor had it that LJ was going to return -- because their season depended on it. and even though he practiced this week, it now appears as if he's not going to play. that hammy must still be giving him fits, because tomorrow is must-win for Baltimore. if Chicago emerges victorious, season over for Harbaugh & Co. and one less obstacle for KC come playoffs time.

i'm going to be following that game like a hawk. best-case scenario, Baltimore jumps out to a 10-0 lead and i can contemplating hedging via a live bet on the Bears

    learn from my idiocy!

  • perkdogperkdog Posts: 32,362 ✭✭✭✭✭

Ravens QB Lamar Jackson (hamstring) ruled out vs. Bears, will miss third straight game https://share.google/P7QmbBx4PNSdveWvQ

@galaxy27 Sucks he is definately out

Maybe Baltimore can still. pull. it off, hopefully you can work it out hedging or whatever

    Good Luck bro

Just missed out on a potential $500 cashing, SMU ML lost by 1 point, Alabama ML was the other leg needed and I'm sure they will win easily so 1 point will cost me $500

  • stevekstevek Posts: 30,813 ✭✭✭✭✭

    Baylor +3.5

  • bgrbgr Posts: 3,181 ✭✭✭✭✭

I saw the same headline on Lamar Jackson and it sounded like he was a lock to play this week as of Thursday afternoon. Hearing now that he won't gives me much less confidence in the Ravens, but... the Bears have their own injury problems now, especially on defense. Maybe it's one of those "coin flip favors the home team" type of situations. Best of luck - for real.

yes, drinking heavily tonight and ruminating about it

  • perkdogperkdog Posts: 32,362 ✭✭✭✭✭

I deserve this since I swore off College betting , that $8 "Fun" play would have paid over $500 but SMU lost by a point.

I sincerely thought Mizzou was easy money but nope.

    Not terrible but still annoying

  • galaxy27galaxy27 Posts: 8,932 ✭✭✭✭✭

    @perkdog

that 8-teamer hurts my soul, especially after i looked up the end of the SMU game

about as close as you can possibly get without winning

that was an exceptional stab...........it is just so freaking difficult to nail every leg

    and here's the hedge

it's contingent on Philly winning today. if the Eagles lose to the Giants again, this method to my madness will fail spectacularly and i'm going to wrap a 7-iron around my head

if Philly wins, it's either +100 or -63.36

sounds more palatable than +200 or -250

    gl today homies πŸ€™

A good day/evening. With the TD by Kraft in the 4th quarter for GB it put the score over 45 to complete a 3 leg parlay. I had earlier today won 3 of the 4 parlays. Missed a 5 for 5 day on pars with Atl ML costing me that 4 leg parlay. The 4 winning pars were all 3 leggers. Total legs played were 16. And hit 15 of the 16.
Profited a little iver 2 1/2 times by initial bet. Don't get many winning football days with that kind of luck.
