Eisenhower mini hoard to search--update posted
Found these locally at a bank. I plan to search and hoped to find some treasures inside. What should I be looking for? Friendly eagle, 3 type of 72 reverse, others?

Type 2 1972 Ike is a better and scarcer find than the type 3.
Talon head die clash variety is neat and can be found on multiple years.

have fun with that one doc
friendly eagle
It should keep me busy for a while!
Look for 90% planchet struck coins struck with P and D mint dies.
You mean 40% planchets.
Well... sure.
a 90% planchet Ike would be quite the find though, no?
Thanks! I plan on searching this weekends, assuming I can stand waiting that long.
NGC's VarietyPlus Eisenhower Dollars (1971-1978). This could be helpful.

Some other varieties and anomalies to look for.

Whenever I go to the bank I ask for these Eisenhower dollars but unfortunately, they do not have them. I like to give them to my grandkids for birthday presents etc. Granted, most banking nowadays is online or through the ATM so there's very little face-to-face need to go into the bank.
I am planning on searching this weekend and havent gotten into the bag yet.
I went through a mixed lot of about 100 mostly XF-AU Ikes a couple months ago and the best finds were a ‘mint set only’ 1973 and a nice looking 1972 Type II. Send the ‘72 in for grading and it came back MS 64 which was pretty sweet!
Good luck to you!
I plan on separating by date, then mint mark. Ill probably try to fill a whitman album or two then, after looking for varities/errors, cash them back in.
My wife's soon-to-be 96 years old grandmother asks for Ikes or halves when she goes to the bank to give me as she knows I collect. She has given me a lot of Kennedy halves (most worth face), a few Frankies and 1 Morgan to go with the dozen or so Ikes. It's a small town with a large population of seniors who probably trade in for face....the Morgan shocked me though (I suspect one of the tellers specifically saved it for her when it came in).
cool in-law ! such thoughtfulness!
Finally got a chance to search the bag. No silver and no errors found and no type 2 '72P. No collection dump but I did find a really nice toner that I suspect was in an album, maybe MS64. No '73s, but they are NIFC. Was able fill a complete Whitman, but barely, only1 '77P! Had lots of fun looking!
Sorry you had no big finds, but that 78D looks nice. You said you were going to cash back in the ‘left overs’ but you may wish to keep some to include in tips or give to a youngster, etc.,—you never know what might spark someone to take an interest in collecting!
You should be looking for a vintage dollar slot machine for the man cave.
I used to give out circulated Ikes for Halloween back when I had trick or treaters come to the door.

A few of those look Unc. They aren't are they except the toner?
Im pretty sure that most, if not all of the few I selected are uncirculated. They may go high AU too though.
Tips is always my choice. At least when I was eating out!
