you should do it. Shatner is up there in age. it would be a great memory. one you wouldnt regret.
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
met shatner and got the family pic. great show. picked up a bunch of 70's star cards.
Fabulous!!!!!!!
Live long, and prosper.
Who's with me? Sold out looks like about 120 dealers. It's getting to become the East Coast National. Can't wait. I always pick up a few from Stan.
I paid for the early entry / preview and I was told by several tables that dealers had cleaned them out prior to early entry. So unless you get in at setup you are at a major disadvantage buying wise.
Kiss me twice.....let's party.
that happens everytime. still lots of goodies to be had.
Going Friday/. SGC $12 any bkb card special!
Kiss me twice.....let's party.
I will be there Friday and Saturday, I thought about doing the BKB deal in person, but I will probably just mail it in. I typically go to Stan and the dude beside him from Florida, and spend 4 hours looking through their cards. I am going to mix it up a little this time. And spend more time at other tables. I feel like I limit myself by staying at one place that long.
Looking forward to it. Hope you have fun.
Plan to go in the afternoon after work. Visit the competition. Would like to be able to use PSA SGC and BGS all for different things.
Want to see if I can get a bump on any of these.
Spent fri and sat at the show. huge turn out. about 175 sellers. more pokemon, etc than last oct. i collect mostly cardboard (older cards). prices keep going up and up on rose ryan etc as the condition gets worse. not a ton of 1960's and 70's stars - ungraded.
turnout by the public was very large. went with 150 readers so, i could really see the condition well. lowered my purchases by half. did pick up some nice 1968 topps game cards for very affordable prices. mantles about $50 each, aaron and clemente around $30. great condition. 7's maybe. all from the same guy. very pleased with those.
it costs $650 per table and most dealers are paying over $1,000. so this leads to more higher end priced cards versus a lot of 1977 - 1985 star cards - $5 - $10 type cards.
it amazes me how some of the sellers can make money based on their prices. $40 and $50 for beat vg 1975 nolan ryan's, $80 - $100 for 1973. LOL!!
Vintage prices definitely jumping up.
Kiss me twice.....let's party.
Chantilly time. Anyone else going. I will be there (hopefully) on Friday and Saturday. Looking forward to it.
If not too much trouble can you post a show report? Thanks.
you mean after I go, report on what I saw? is that what you are saying?
I live in Northern Virginia and the venue for the Chantilly card show (Dulles Expo Center) is becoming an IKEA. This and the next show might be the last here.

that sucks. wonder where csa shows will go?
Yes.
gotcha
Gonna try to swing by Sunday mostly for a consigment dropoff. Ideally I like early Friday but will be away then and most of Saturday.
Just leaving a Herndon, VA Worldgate show. Grown to like it. Would say its about 75% Pokemon 25% sports. Dedicated sports room less crowded. Pokemon rooms more crowded. Tough to get around in there with the backpacks. 🤣
Looks tight in places.
Time to do some serious partying CSA style.
Kiss me twice.....let's party.
hooters is about 200 yards away!!!
went to the show today. huge show 120 dealers. lots of younger dealers and people than i have ever seen. lots of big cash from some of the younger guys. not a ton of vintage but some. picked up really nice 1964 mantle psa 5 for $575. i would say the centering was a 9. perfect top to bottom and slightly off left to right great color.
buying some sets. cheap factory sets for later. i will look to pick up some vintage from stan tomorrow. he has a ton of stuff.
the parking lot was completely packed. as big of a show as i have ever attended at the dulles expo center.
That feels like what I've seen the last few times. A lot of the Pokeyman cards and kids under 18 even 14 spending like they have full-time jobs and tons of expendable cash. Lots of little suitcases. Hard-core business dealings with 12 year-olds flashing the big bills. Its all cool. Just takes some getting used to.
for those of you who aren't familiar with northern Va. demographics - there are a large number of middle easterners. like about 33% of the pop. chantilly is one of the most expensive areas in the whole united states. most houses are over 1 mill apiece. for slightly above average houses. many neighborhoods are 2 mill plus per house. the schools are huge.
So the demographics of a region make it sensible to have a show where the money flows.
prolly the most in the country.
That was the last show at Chantilly Dulles Expo I believe. It will be an IKEA shortly
Wow, that stinks. That may have ruined my day. I usually go but missed this one. Was out of town Fri/Sat and today was too tired and felt like watching football.
IMO they will be going up a lot. You can purchase many PSA 9 hall of famers from the mid to late 70's for under $50. Compare that to the prices they are asking for modern cards.
the mantle i bought felt like a gimme. super looking 5.
At the show I talked to Stan and he said the 1975 Mini's are getting harder and harder to find. He had piles of the regular cards but only about 120 mini's (star cards). Not sure if that means much, but I didn't see hardly any at the show.
What's the crowd? Much high end vintage earlier than 1970?
not a ton about 10 people or so had pre 1972
