And they are all sold out at Apmex!

After I got mine yesterday I thought of getting more and checked the inventory at Apmex, it showed about 273 left in inventory. So over the next 12 hours they all got bought up. I think everyone that bought made the right choice.

My guess is they pulled them, and will restart in a few days $20-30 higher.

This is the sticker that was on the plastic wrapping, I pealed it and put it on the box.

Might be wrong, but I think 'cast' is different than 'poured' and would explain the lack of pour lines.

    Here they are:

These were $200 cheaper on Labor Day.

My guess is the first run of these 3 ouncers sold out and they are probably on waitlist for the others. Some buyers paid $313.80 each on Ebay for three that were listed.

A family member has a 10 ounce Engelhard Bar that is 0.999 Fine Silver...is this simply worth 10x the price of an ounce of silver ? Premium ? Discount ?

    Thanks !

A very slight premium. With spot currently at 51.33, might find a buyer at 520-525. Maybe.

10s are common across all makers. that's the max in one item i suggest purchasing

now, someone would have o tell me if there are any engelhard 10s that are collectible

I did the same thing! Carefully put it on the little white outer box. 👍

Some of the Engelhard tens are extremely valuable.

For the most part, it’s the same end result, basically poured is when they pour liquid molten metal into the mold, and you usually will have some pour lines from the Silver cooling as it’s pouring in…

Casting is basically, they take the mold that the Silver bar is going into, and fill it with the casting pellets to the exact weight and then they slide it into the hot oven and it basically melts in place.

It’s really the same end result because even the cast ones sometimes when they pull the mold out, it wiggles a little and you’ll have those squiggly lines as well…

One thing I’ve seen with poured bars is you’ll have those little specs on the outside of the bar that are like raised bumps. I don’t know exactly what that’s called, but I know that’s something that happens when they’re pouring the hot metal…

I’ve got one or two bars, that exhibit that:

This one also has those little raised bumps:

Those are "splash marks" where droplets of silver splashed during the pour.
You have some very neat bars. B)

If anyone missed out on the 3 ounce silver bars this website has them in stock for $199. I have never ordered from them but here is the link.
