I actually called the number only to realize it's basically a scam. And that's why the sticker is going bye-bye!

That's a sample slab that has no grade, so it can't be undergraded. Some sample/slab collectors may actually want the RUFFCO sticker so I wouldn't remove it, but it's your coin so do as you wish.

I think he's talking about the "FA 00" which is, of course, not a grade as you mention.

Ruffco was a company started by Howard Ruff in probably the 1970s or 1980s he had a newsletter that was very popular. So I think the point of the slab and sticker was more about hard money than numismatics. The coin is not graded because it's a sample, and my guess is it's worth more with the sticker on the slab than without it.
who has two thumbs and dialed that number, this guy

That sticker actually makes an otherwise boring slab a lot more interesting. As others have pointed out, that sticker actually makes it more desirable to many slab collectors.

I wouldn't remove the sticker.
Hey guys, thanks for the feedback! Upon further review of your excellent advice, I have decided to leave the sticker intact.
And if you call that number.... well, it's almost ridiculous what their robot-recordings are trying to sell you.

I'm just curious what are they trying to sell you?
Is this company started by Jerome K. Ruffin from another thread here? That family are big time scammers!

No. If you read the thread, it was Howard Ruff.

Interesting slab, I’m glad you did not pull the sticker off.
It is more interesting as it originally was found.
