A positive so far resolution from Great Southern, and many will be shocked...

First,
Huge, bigger than life shoutout to the Boerne PD.

They were the ones who got those guys to cough up the cash owed. Waiting on one more return, but my god, I have never seen a pd like that in my life. Quick response, quick detective work, and almost week later... money back.

The shocker:

GSC fumbled, scrambled, and were making up excuses. I cant get into what was said, but they looked not so good.

Hopefully this teaches them a lesson, and a lesson to anyone who ever thinks you can take money from a collector.

Dont. Or at least, not me.
If anyone has an issue, do not wait go for the guts right away. I love the first 48 TV Series.

The longer the delay, the harder the investigation gets.

Positive outcome. We are almost over the finish line. One more refund and case closed

No need to drag this on and get thread lock. This is a reminder, that in Texas, and I am sure many other locales in the country, justice still prevails

Glad to read of your successful results.

Tuition in this hobby comes in many forms. Glad this one was only frustrating yet cheap.

It's not a made up sob story. Are you fine?
If you are a proud follower of Christ, there are many made up stories in that but I won't hit back. That is offense?
This actually happened. Didnt you read the other thread?

I put this to warn people, not to echo my thoughts.

    Let's focus on one thing:

Great Southern did NOT have to hold the $ and not send it.
It is clear who is right, who is wrong, and to share how honest you are, side with right and honesty than wrong and shadyness. They pulled a shady move.

    We all paid tuition.

Take all the constructive comments and criticism to heart.

Slow down. Buy only PCGS with CAC sticker or NGC for the CAC graded coins.

Otherwise just start lighting $100 bills on fire and record them for Tik Tok. Literally.

My advice... only raw purchases worth buying at the early stages are varieties from the Cherrypickers Guide.

Ton of fun and you learn along the way as you toil away on Ebay.

  • why does it have to be steered into a car crash??
This is a report and update. This isn't comedy or a crash, it's simply stating what happened. Why aren't people talking about how they took money??

I find it hard to believe any local Police Dept would actually do anything other than take a report over what is obviously a civil, not criminal matter. Or if they did actually do anything, it wouldn't be the lightning fast response the OP claims to have gotten.

The funniest thing ever would be if this was an Inception level troll event with the OP creating the Great Southern account and responding to his own posts in the other thread.

The only thing I'm shocked about is that you made a new thread with the same topic as your last thread, which got shut down.

sorry not sure why it did. Was just posting an experience about a relevant topic about a coin dealer.

Just wondering about your thumbnail image.

It appears to be an AI-generated cartoon of a morbidly obese man with a stethoscope. Who is that supposed to be?

Any why are there two scantily-clad women with him? Are they trying to escape? Seems creepy. :#

The problem was NOT doing a phone deal, it was who you did the deal with.
I would be happy to do a phone deal and send money by Zelle to MANY folks on this board because I highly value their honesty, but GS is not among them and will never get my business.

Hopefully this teaches you a lesson. The entire situation was 100% created by you and your actions only exacerbated the issue.

It seems like you prefer an echo chamber and don't care about anyone's input here which is fine but you have zero credibility on this forum IMO.

If you're looking for sympathy or solidarity, I think it's unlikely you'll find much here after your previous couple of posts.

Apparently, the last thread getting closed didn't teach him anything either.

The only thing I find funny is you turning this into a criminal case and expecting us to applaud that.

You may not care, but I would be surprised if amyone who read these two threads would ever do business with you.

As much as GSC's numismatic practices are rightly despised by many, they do have great eBay feedback and have a generous return policy that many people take advantage of. Of all of the complaints, and there have been MANY, I've never seen a single comment about them not honoring their return policy, stealing money, poor service, etc.

As I mentioned in your other thread, it's shocking to me that I am siding with GSC because their coins and photos and descriptions are truly gross and I think they are terrible for the hobby and I would never do business them. And yet, I still side with them over you.

As I also mentioned in your other thread, based on your description of the events, you seem like an absolute nightmare of a customer. Truly an upper level Karen. That's how much I think this whole thing is your fault.

And I think it's his fault even harder.

ancientrodriguezfam Is maybe a slightly sarrowfully misunderstood fellow among friends and family and classmates here on the forum.
It's not so much his stunted emotional capacity that hinders his goals but his lack of awareness of such. His feelings run away from his control causing unknown mischief to others.
    Otherwise, Godspeed and happy collecting.

    1. You came here for advice and were unanimously told not to buy the coin. You bought the coin.
    2. You used a debit card for the purchase but expected the processing timelines of a credit card.
    3. You incessantly pestered the merchant making them (probably) less likely to want to go above and beyond for you after you returned a coin from an auction (different than a Buy It Now listing).
    4. You were so impatient with a return, expecting it to happen extremely quickly, that you immediately levied accusations of thievery at the merchant.
    5. You didn't bother to research or even ask how long a debit charge might take to credit back.
    6. While waiting for the credit back, you filed dispute with your bank.
    7. While waiting for the dispute with your bank, you called the police to file criminal charges on a simple merchant dispute.

All of this could have been avoided if #1 didn't happen. But since it did, you could have just waited a couple of days for a call back from GSC and the credit would have hit your account as it eventually did. As many people know and a simple web search will confirm, getting a credit back on a debit card is often a 10-15 business day process. Your impatience and anxiety escalated this situation from 0 to 100.

I am extremely confident the police had nothing to do with getting you a refund. All that happened is time passed...and time was going to pass anyway.

Add to all of that, you have obviously left out many details and only reported what you wanted to or were able to understand. You reported your opinions and fear as facts; and your opinions and fears, while real to you, are not facts in the real world. Based on your reports, I don't trust your perception of reality in the slightest.

I'm sure I missed something I could like on even more...but that is why it's your fault.

He actually didn't return the coin. He canceled the purchase. Other than that...pretty good summary

actually, from the other thread, the AT bust was an ebay listing where gsc was contacted directly and a transaction attempted off ebay

for that, there was n return because gsc said they sent nothing

    My dearest friend,
You chose to take an eBay transaction off-line, leaving eBay out the profit taking.
That is not ethical nor is it cool.
You had to be punished for such poor behavior, and you subsequently were.
The universe has a purpose for you and fooling around with eBay fees is not going to get you there.

GSC is not one after this. They owe one coin and it is luckily for $28, we'll see.

by the way, if anyone was knocking the cops.
    Don't.
They saved this. And if I was allowed, I could give names and you can call them right up to verify all this.
They went to GSC and got them to pass it over. They deserve the thanks, no one else. Why?
Because they mentioned, they got the wigs at GSC talking.

  • MsMorrisineMsMorrisine Posts: 36,538 ✭✭✭✭✭

the list would depend upon what is sought
