With all respect, I'm not sure people need updates on the price 4 minutes later. I try to post when we hit new incremental highs because that is the purpose of the thread, but I think most people know where to find the current price if they want it.

At least he posts the real world price. Not sure the futures price is relevant to anyone who actually stacks the metal. RGDS!

Why, just because the quantity is 100oz and not 1oz? Like it or not, the price paid for a futures contract is the price someone is willing to pay for gold (and sell gold for) for delivery in a month give or take. It's a valid price. The price is different at your local shop, on Craigslist, at APMEX, on the home shopping network channel, ebay, etc. that could also take weeks to deliver. Any argument that the futures price isn't a 'real world price' isn't valid. In fact, when premiums jump it can be cheaper to buy metal via futures contract than at your LCS. It's a data point just like everything else.

Right, but I only post new highs when they happen which again, the purpose of the thread is to announce new highs, not prices at random times through the day. Spot and cash always seem to be within1% of each other anyway so I'm not sure it makes a huge difference.
plus, that is kitco. cash market. there are those here that don't want to hear about futures at all.
Yes, a different market, but futures prices are relevant to the overall gold market too.

I'm still stunned by the rapid rise in gold.
It's not that rapid. We've doubled in 5 years. In 1979-80, it doubled in a year...actually went up about 175% in 13 months and 30% in a month spiking into the January 1980 high.

It's doubled in a year and a half thus far. It may not go parabolic from here, but it could. I sure haven't seen money creation or spending slowing down at all. In fact, both are increasing. And the rest of the world has taken notice.

The dollar index is at the bottom of this channel and is likely to bounce although eventually I believe it will break through to the downside. But a surging dollar will give PMs serious headwinds.

Or a search for Hannes Tulving. Good business turned bad.
Then Northwest Territorial Mint and the seller in Vancouver, WA. plus a couple of large eBay sellers. Honestly I am waiting for the next one given this run-up without a pullback. I would be leery of any place that wants to hold your metal - or delays shipping...

My first recollection on gold was in 2007 when you could by common decent raw Lib $20's for around $800.
Wish I had bought a few more than I did.
Over $3950 tonight, $4000 party coming.
http://ProofCollection.Net
And $50 silver.
$5,000 by 2030 (my old timeframe was 2035) is certainly no doable...we do need a time-out and time to re-base.
But it's not a stretch with 5 years to get there. Could we reach $10,000 by 2040 ?
Based on the prior two blowoff tops, I would not be surprised by $6,000 (possibly $7,000) by the end of April 2026.
Certainly different times now. Seems to be lots less restraints now (true price discovery?)
By then (2040) gold should easily reach my $126k target.
Where?

Here's a good futures link for all the overnight futures: stocks...bonds....ag products....PMs.

But over longer periods of time, the Dollar is UP against a basket of currencies and gold has doubled:

An old Tulving purchase is now officially a 10-bagger.
Fiscal sanity. That is not going to happen any time soon.
Yes, I agree, if you view the rise in gold as an asset appreciating against the US dollar.
But when you think of it as the US dollar depreciating against gold, you may think it's not surprising at all, rather, it's long overdue.

Yes, my 1st purchase while still in college is also a 10-bagger. Maybe 12-bagger.
Doesn't look like a collapse to me.

i don't care much about the price, my wealth that i worked so hard for is preserved and not getting inflated away
