Bad TrueView's or bad coins?

I wanted to add these two to my PCGS Type Set, but both TrueView's make these MS66 & MS67 coins look terrible, any idea why? I am viewing these on line only.

I'd bet it's some of both. The lighting on those photos is horrible, and it would be very easy to make the coins look much nicer in photos. That said, the problem with TVs is often the lustre or color/color balance. The top photo color balance may be slightly yellow, but I can't see the TV simply adding that thin hazy skin if it doesn't exist (though the photo may make it more prominent). Same with the marks: that chatter is really there, though it every mark is hit by the light, the coin could look worse in the photo than in hand.

With all of that said, I think modern mid-unc grades (ie, not 68 or higher) do tend to be more chattery than what you might expect of, say, a Morgan dollar where a 66 is generally quite clean. I remember when looking at MS68 (already breaking my rule with a 68, and this was silver, not clad) bicentennial quarters, it took me months to find one that didn't have some kind of haze, distracting spotting, or chatter I didn't like.

Bad coins with bad photos, hard pass unless very discounted and only then if it was the registry points I was after.

Unfortunately, in today's world where so many of us tend to shop online versus face to face venues, images sort of make or break a coin at just about any grade point level-

My 92 year old mother could take better coin photos with her Galaxy 9 than our host does for money.
This is one reason that I like bidding for online coins with Phil Arnold photos.

I'd like you take you up on the offer for your 92 year old grandmother's cell phone photos. Please share some with us so we can compare with PCGS photos.

Mother, not grandmother and she wouldn't waste her time on recent Jeffersons.

In the year 2025, we collect coins just as much as we collect photos. When buying common coins(and sometimes tougher coins), we have to make sure the photo/True View meets our requirements. If it doesn’t, don’t buy it! You don’t want to dump more money trying to get a different True View, shipping costs, insurance, etc. It just becomes an exercise in frustration. As most are aware, one era of True View is better than others.

This is the why I quit getting true views with my orders. The type of lighting they’re using actually highlights any and all imperfections while whitewashing any color and depth.
I’m sure the coins are graded accurately and look much better in hand but you’ll end up with the same problem as this guy when it comes time to sell.

Lessons learned. Were all picky, some more than others.
    Communication is key.
I my self felt, kinda let down after my first true view arrived. I'm a graphic designer and a pressman.
There's no way I would use the true view for reproduction in any media. If it was over looked by the salesman, the prep dept and even the customer, the buck stops here, at THE PRESS.
    "Was this photo ok'ed" ?
    Pull it and start over.
I design, print and mail my own brochure's.

    .

I was hoping to use the True View.
