2025 Batman Comic Art.
Not sure what is the demand going to be today for the 2025 Batman Comic Art gold coin and silver medals.
I will not be ordering any today, but I would like to see what the 2.5 ounce silver medal will do considering that it's only 25K mintage.

I probably won't pick one up today. I see they loaded 4987 pieces available to sell so it'll be interesting to see how fast those move. The mint hasn't been transparent about how they manage or allocate their stated mintages.
I might pick up the Wonder Woman coin in November if gold isn't $5K an ounce or higher by then.
I agree with you, the Wonder Woman is much nicer, I will pick up one too.
The expected in-stock date is Thu Jan 29 2026.
My Superman was $300 less.
25K 2.5oz is same at Superman
Gold spot: ~$3,730/oz.
Batman: $2,990/½oz. = $5,980/oz.
Eye candy only, for me.
~One hour after open, gold ats=4120. Not exactly selling out here.
Yikes. I guess we've discovered the breaking point for coin prices -- at least for this series
I could swear that when Superman went on sale there were already listings on eBay for slabbed 70s with various labels from both NGC and PCGS, for all three sizes. Today for Batman, not a single one.
Yes, far too much wind in the prices of this series. Hard pass for me.
The very slow sales for the batman gold coin is an ominous sign for the rest of the releases, as batman is the top seller when it comes to DC, at least in the toy market. Next year sales will probably fall to under 2500 for those three, followed by sales under 2000 for the final year.
I'm really not sure who the market is for these. They are too pricey for someone to just toss it into their comic collection for fun.

I think these were first conceived when the gold price was significantly lower. Going forward, I think the mint needs to consider silver for their future releases. I know there are Comic Arts silver medals but they aren't real coins. Even platinum is less than half the cost of gold at this point.
Even the silver medals are too pricey, what with the usual Mint premium plus whatever commission DC gets. At least a few of the offerings from other countries have both silver and gold versions so there's some precedent for gold here.
The press release announcing the program was on July 10, 2024. Gold spot price was $2373 on that day (having peaked just above 2400 about a month earlier and hovering in this range since late February). The program was certainly negotiated for some time before that. For reference, today's spot is ~$3750.
½oz. Gold Batman
ats: 3,844
2-½oz. Silver Batman
ats: 18,453
Not exactly the numbers the Mint had in mind for this gala promotion.
Maybe if the Superman pieces were made of Kryptonite, they might of been cheaper 😀
This is a long time to wait to get the coin. I will pass. I am still waiting for my superman to be shipped
The expected in-stock date is Thu Jan 29 2026
if only we knew someone who could do this faster...
Sales are already down dramatically compared to the superman coin, and this is only the second coin into the nine coin series.
so batman won't beat superman?
He must have needed more time to prepare.
2025-W $50 Proof Batman Gold Coin sales 1,943 up 104
These are turning into the spouse coins.
They pulled the Comic Silver for repricing while simultaneously shipping the Batman 2.5's yesterday.
What's the new price for the 2.5 Comic Silver going to be?
I'll go with $475 - Ouch...

i'll take 450
I'll go $400

$500 isn't out of the question? Either way, the new pricing will kill it off?
The OGP is flashy & artsy, but flimsy and weak at the capsule holder assembly -
- Especially during shipping.....

Yeah, they’re trying real hard to not sell these
At $275 they’re selling at $110 an ounce, I mean, why isn’t 38% increase over spot good enough?
Because they were always meant to sell at a 100%+ markup?
You win!

.
You nailed it. 400.00 for the 2.5 oz medal and 200.00 for the 1 oz medal.
"Holy Shiny Silvery Toledo Batman!"
"Robin, it looks like the Joker has taken over the mint in Gotham City. To the Batmobile, let's go!"
They are kind of cool. I only bought Superman. The problem is less about the markup and more about the price itself. $400 is a lot of money to most people. Most "collections" don't have any coins worth $400. I mean, we're in SVDB range which was an aspirational coin for the majority of collectors.

With each passing price increase for these, purchased months ago(including WW), the more appealing they are to me now.
However, what about the next Comic offering ? - Supergirl - Not as appealing at $400 per 2.5 oz Medal & $4030 per 1/2 oz Coin... for now..... Things are getting out of hand, sadly.

.
The gold looks so much more impressive than the silver. It almost looks high relief!
The Wonder Woman Gold has finally shipped, and the Silver WW is still on B/O.
Contrasting finishes (3 distinct) really pop the coin.
Winner in design-to-coin execution imo...

.
I dont usually order medals, but I got the 1 oz silver Batman for my friend who let me stay with him and his wife for a week while moving. He sent me pix, the packaging looked pretty sharp too.
Waiting on the 1 oz silver Wonder Woman for myself. That gold looks really nice!
I managed to order the Wonder Woman Silver 2.5 oz medal before the price increase
, now waiting for shipping (not sure when the mint will ship those).
Yes, I like them but not at current prices. Oh well, I can be patient. I do think the Mint did a nice job with these.
