NEWP: Spent way to much too much to match the pair!

These only come in 1/2 and 1/4 Taler denominations. I bought the 1/2 a while back and this 1/4 came up - I bid way too much but there was a stubborn bidder on the other end who wanted it as much. I figured it would be a nice complement to this neat one year type design.

Newp: 1694 Salzburg 1/4 Taler

1694 1/2 Taler

Exceptional coins... congrats. In terms of the cost, just ask yourself what are the chances of finding better examples?

Worth it! (Granted that’s easy to say when it’s not my money.)

Exceptional pair! With similar condition and patinas, one might wonder if they shared a common existence in somebody's coin cabinet 200+ years ago. Together again?

Regarding the thread title, I bet there are many good coin stories which start with the words "spent way too much"......

Very nice and even though you think you spent too much I would of done the same for any Italian pair
