Heritage Auction tonight seemed to yield strong prices for coins in old holders

I noticed a lot of OGH and rattlers were selling really, really well. I had my eye on a Morgan OGH in 64. PCGS retail is $700 and CAC price is $875. This one sold for almost $1000 and it didn’t even have a sticker! I couldn’t justify it, so I backed off. Glad I picked up some old slabs, when I was able to. I still look for them and buy them, when they’re not too crazy. Have you guys been noticing this? Even more so than in the past?
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

I was outbid at SB about 18 months ago. Same exact coin in tonight's auction has already been bid up 10% higher than last years realized price.
Still 40 minutes until it crosses the finish line. Wondering how high it will go.

Very strong prices indeed. I won two PCGS OGH coins; one for less than retail and one, surprisingly, for Greysheet. But most of the coins I was watching went for extraordinary prices:
-- a PCGS 1938-D MS66 Buffalo for $94
-- a PCGS 1937-S MS65 Walker for $840
-- a PCGS 1946-S MS65 Walker for $660
-- a PCGS 1880-S MS65 Morgan for $324
-- a PCGS 1853 AU58 gold dollar for $516
-- a PCGS 1889 AU55 gold dollar for $504
I won this for my old holder 1909 65rb set. Can’t find a rattler.
Yes the ogh and rattlers can attract bids. I just move on to the World Gold 19th century area or US Classic Commems.
Nor do I.
I have a huge array of rattlers. Bought as well as got them from PCGS a long time ago back in the late 1980’s.
