Gettysburg Show Report September 2025

The Fall Show was held September 11-13 and was a huge success! I met several board members. The attendance was over 1,000 and those who attended were there to both buy and sell. Individuals were bringing in silver and gold in coin and bullion form to sell. I have not seen people bringing in silver and gold in this quantity since the Hunt Brothers ran the market up.
.
Steve F. (Dealer) had an amazing 1856 FE Cent in PR64. That is on my wish list, but I did not have the courage to purchase it. What I purchased was nothing to brag about. I only purchased several proof Franklins, several BU Franklins and a couple BU Washington Quarters. All but one of the dealers said they had a great show. The one dealer never has a good show and is always negative.
.
One of the ladies, Lori, who comes with her husband enjoys working the sign-in table, so my wife gladly accepts the help. One man came in, signed in and asked: "Who is buying junk silver?" Lori replied: "Why would you bring junk silver to sell? Why didn't you bring your good silver?" LOL! If that was a boardmember she said that to, please let me know your thoughts whenever she asked that.
.
Food was the normal menu with the addition of crab soup. I ate a cheeseburger and some nachos. Both were truly uninspiring! But...what do you expect from hotel coin show food?
.
Security had no issues and everything went well. One new dealer at the end did not want security. He kept saying: "I don't need securiy!" "Security is a waste!" and statements to that nature. I finally told him: "You might not need it, but we have it to keep you and others safe. If a dealer would get robbed on the premises or outside loading, the show would not overcome the stigma." He tried to pull away to load where security could not see him, but they watched him closely. His comments ticked them off, but they are professionals. After he loaded his vehicle, he went into the hotel snack shop. I went in to see where he was and told security they could leave and I would park behind his vehicle. After half an hour I went back into the hotel and he was waiting for somebody, a guy in a white cowboy hat, pink shirt, boots and a large belt buckle. I had the feeling he might be trying to get robbed for insurance reasons. I talked to him again about leaving his coins unattended and he told me: "I have an alam and the doors are locked. I have to eat! Is the crime that bad here?" He accepted responsibility in case he got robbed and I left. HE WILL NOT BE A TABLED DEALER AT ANOTHER ONE OF MY SHOWS! His lack of security endangers others.

If you attended, please post your report.

Thanks for the report. Were dealers buying the bullion that was coming in the doors and if so any idea what they were paying in regards to spot? THKS!
The whole worlds off its rocker, buy Gold™.

Wooooha! Did someone just say it's officially "TACO™" Tuesday????
Dealers were buying what came in. Average was 25-26x face. Bullion I did not see what they paid.
Thanks for the show report. My GF and I are contemplating retirement in York PA, and Gettysburg isn't that far away... Best, Leo

Gettysburg is a comfortable regional show. It has ample parking and a nice complement of dealers. If one has deep pockets...the early bird available on Thursday is probably the ticket. It was great to finally meet @MICHAELDIXON.
