...at one of my local antique shops.
I only have time to post one right now getting ready to head out to a ball game.
I'll post the others later.
1883 CC - This one looked fantastic (in store) I was thinking 65/66 purchased for 174.00.
On the way home I noticed what look like a scratch across the Eagles breast and was bummed thinking details.
Now back home I realize its a die crack (happy again 
.
Do you think this was a good purchase, grade, Vam???

What a beaut! Ultimately you the customer are the ultimate arbiter of your purchases, have you been collecting for long? As others have said probably imported from the Orient.
He has just under 10,000 posts he knows what he's doing and he's just pulling our leg.

A very weird, soft, uneven strike with strange, raised markings and die lines on that coin. I suspect it's fake as well, and I don't actively collect Morgans.

If you only look at the middle of the cheek and nowhere else it’s not a bad piece of metal.
A counterfeit for sure. Interestingly, it is not typical of the modern fakes you see from Asia. I would not grade it above 65.
True…we have many with one or two posts and have found some incredible error coins in the parking lot…..lol
@Catbert if you have almost 10,000 post logged on this forum and you dont know what a counterfeit Morgan looks like you simply have not been paying attention. There's a new counterfeit Morgan practically every week posted.
I do believe post counts do matter. To me it deserves respect. Thats a lot of time studying and learning about the hobby.

It's a little different than most fakes I have seen. What about the other coins? Maybe post the others to verify if they're ok.

Now that this one is out of the cardboard I'm guessing cleaned if even real.
At $42 I figured I couldn't go wrong here.

That 1883-cc is a very poorly made counterfeit and not at all convincing. Notice the raised blob of metal next to the 3 in the date. Caveat emptor!

Is the consensus here that these are all counterfeits or was the amount paid just way too high? I see the 1883 looks odd.

My eyes aren't as sharp as they once were, the room is less than bright, the dealer I trusted (never had an issue), it's an antique shop where the dealer is rarely in in fact I've never even met him. All of this on top of being a newbie in ancients
Then throw in I had a little change in my pocket going chinga linga ling! And I like to roll the dice. (give me a ring).
Then a little bird mentioned that he the dealer had fallen or his wife I can't remember anyway they weren't doing well so throw in a little charity.
I appreciate the honesty though, always have, one of the reasons I love this place.
On a side note: I quit judging post counts years ago. I've read expert advice from members with less than 50.

Yes, many of us do.
The distinction between what is collectible and what is junk is whether it is contemporary or modern counterfeits.
For example, I've collected these over the last few months:
The last four Buffalo nickels in my completed Dansco album are all 1916-S contemporary counterfeits:

On a side note:
How to spot these contemporary counterfeit Buffalo nickels:
1- Check to see the designer initial is missing below the date.
2- There is a die crack on the bottom of the Indian's arrow.
3- The reverse Buffalo is too skinny (for the lack of a techical term).
