It is a V-2, and does not match any coins on the V-2 roster in the 1871-s attribution guide.

Not necessarily. It looks like it might be the green wax-like substance that can accumulate on a coin when stored for a long time in an old leather wallet. If so, the stuff is pretty much harmless and will dissolve right off in acetone.
