I was very suspicious, but just for giggles I sent an email on September 10 and asked this "Eric" if he had this particular banknote and would he be willing to sell it. He replied:
Thanks for reaching out. Yes, I do have a Pauls Valley National Bank note (Charter 7892, Series 1902), and I’d consider selling it for the right price.
What budget range did you have in mind? Also, to make sure we’re on the same page, could you share a reference photo of the exact type you’re looking for (Value Back, Plain Back, or Date Back)? I’m happy to send high‑resolution photos of my note (front/back)
Red flags all over! If he has this banknote, why does he need me to send him a reference photo? And why is he asking about my "budget range" before I see the note?
I couldn't quit now. I responded that I'd make a competitive offer based on the note's condition and appearance. So... send me the photos.

And I immediately recognized the photo as being from an auction on Ebay that is in my watchlist. Same serial number, same circular rust stain on the back, same photo background, same light glare on the holder.
Anyway, I wrote back and called his bluff. No response. Man I hate scammers.

He (or she) is back as willy442, using the email account dawnvincent934@gmail.com instead of ericvincent039@gmail.com. I just received a message from him offering some unnamed Oklahoma national bank notes in "excellent condition".
