How to rotate coin in holder

3stars3stars Posts: 2,300 ✭✭✭✭✭

Bought a coin that is rotated 90 degress in the three prong holder - any way to get it to turn the proper direction to be upright again?

experiment with tapping a corner on a hard surface

others have found success with an electric toothbrush

  • Try touching an electric toothbrush at different points along the edges. It works better for the slabs without prongs, but maybe you can get the whole gasket to rotate back into place.

Picture yourself on a merry-go-round that suddenly stops - you will keep spinning. So try that the best you can w/ your slab, spin it and stop it suddenly so the coin keeps rotating a tiny bit. Easier said than done but seems the best bet.

You might be able to get the tpg to fix it for you.

I had a Seated Dollar that was rotated about 45 degrees. I used an electric razor on one corner to rotate it back. It took some trial and error, but I got it to work. Good luck!
