ANA OKC Show Report

Ok it took me a full week to recover from the full week of coin insanity in OKC, but I finally did and finally wrote up thoughts and pictures from OKC:

In short, as I'm sure others have reported: A great show. All my fellow dealers were super-doubters and OKC proved them basically all wrong.
Highlight (lowlight?) in one pic -- this was an actual display in an actual professional coin dealer's case:
I thought it was a joke, but no, he was serious: "Them grading companies are scum and they lie and cheat and those are the real grades and prices."

That photo should be preserved forever! I'd love to find out if he sold any.
Or how long it took to catch on

Noah & team Rarity 7 - excellent show report & an enjoyable read! I think OKC knocked it out of the park A to Z!

Okay, I'll ask THE question (since we could not make it to OKC this year), when will the ANA be back to OKC?
Perhaps it was this guy from the FUN show.

Yeah he did, at least one. I grabbed the ‘22 in ‘MS67’ for the cool 7k!😉😂

Tehehe.
But will he offer me MS65 money for my MS61’s? I also have a bridge in Alaska for sale…
A dealer last weekend when I showed him an MS 70 silver eagle said they are all either 69 or 70....oh, really? In the earlier dates it's very hard to get 70s.
I really enjoyed your show report. I thought that OKC was the best ANA in years.
Superb show report. Perhaps we will meet someday . . . . . it would be fun!

Great show report. I enjoyed being in on that 80 nickel discussion with you , Owen, and the nickel’s owner on Friday, I acquired some great diagnostic info from Owen on those.

Did you end up with that 1876 Proof set? Lovely!
Thank you for the ANA show report. Some nice coins on your site too. And thanks for the laughs.
Nice picture, Noah. Must have missed that display case. Nice seeing you and your growing team there.
See you at SJ on Friday.

Excellent report Noah. I loved the ANA show in OKC. It was very active and a strong market. I really enjoyed the great restaurants and the Omni hotel was first class! The convention center was new and impressive as well.
Although clearly, they’re not all 69 or 70, the fact that it might be very hard to get 70’s for earlier dates doesn’t contradict what he said.

Noah, you have a great attitude along with an excellent, entertaining writing style. And you’re even tolerable in person. 😉 Truthfully, I really enjoyed meeting and talking to you.
I sure would like to introduce that dealer to NGC, show them that picture and repeat his comments to them.

Some years ago I walked over to the NGC table where Mark Salzburg was answering questions and I showed them an Anacs certified 1866 $20 Liberty in MS60 that I had tried to cross to their holder, and he said it was not uncirculated. Then I walked over to the Anacs table where Randy said he liked it even in an MS61 holder. I should have asked both for their reasoning for both determinations but didn't. If you can get the grading service VIP graders to answer questions that would be educational.
I had a somewhat similar "lowlight" at a smaller show this summer - I saw a coin I sold on eBay at fair market value (lightly toned Morgan in rattler holder, $200) priced at $800 in a dealer's case.

Is he buying more? I have some under graded coins for sale! All of my Morgans are MS68/69 so he might have to pay up!
@rarity7 Will you be at the PCGS members only show in Irvine?
Nice Peace $. But his grades vs NGC?
A guy used setup with was a Peace $ specialist. He did a booming business. He knew how to pick out nice coins -and sold them at retail only / many would try haggle (mostly other dealers) but would get stuffed in backfield.
Yessir! Looking forward to that one - a different spin on their show and I love the "one 6ft table for everyone" approach. Makes it feel more intimate and more like a club meeting than a show.

Really good report, nice presentation. The dealer with the stickers, I wonder why he gave the "grading companies" all that money to get the coins graded if "they are all scum"?
Love the name R7 also! Great job guys and gals!
