Indeed a way too nice coin and the low mintage, I used to have the 1892-CAM Peso with the flag before they changed it to use Cristobal Colon, but sold it. An AU50 PCGS mintage of 41,000.

That's a really nice write up and quite the special extra touch on what is already a very beautiful coin.
    I'm happy for you. Congratulations.

Pretty sure this is my coin. Makes sense… 1975 ANA = FCC Boyd, to Canaparo, to Millennia. Many of the spots match though clearly the toning evolved after the same. The proofs I have from Millennia both have a similar dual sided attractive tone likely from how Canaparo stored the coins.

@Boosibri Ive been lurking on these boards since you were doing dirty old US gold.

I’ve always found your pursuits to be very interesting……and your willingness and ability to research very inspiring. I know there are many others who agree with me.

Always appreciate you sharing your coins and insight!

Traded notes with Canaparo, he didn’t buy that coin from the 1975 ANA.

Doesn’t mean it’s not the same coin though, right?

Correct of course. Was hoping for an easy confirmation

But I agree it looks like a pretty good match. Can you show the reverse photo from the 1975 ANA catalogue?

As far as I know, DC kept his coins in manila coin envelopes.

Unfortunately, there is no reverse image shown in the catalog. It was a part of a full set in 1975 and Don only had the peso. So suppose it makes sense that someone else bought the set and eventually he bought the peso when it was broken up.
