Ebay, what a waste of time!

There are some good dealers left out there, but damn these Chinese fakes are really taking over. While looking at a nice circulated 1915 Barber half being offered by David Kahn (top shelf dealer), I clicked on the suggested items link. That is where the waste of time was. Hardly a real coin to be found. And nowhere to report the listing as fraudulent. Glad there are better avenues, but I'll be future "grandpa" collections will be full of these fakes.
Look at the 1896-S halves below, looks like the Temu mint was cranking them out hard.

The temu mint produces more coins than the us mint.

My Seated Half searches are just as littered. It really sucks!

Bust half search has been 20 to 30 in a row all saying Location china..................
Turn it into a contest to find the genuine coins that are a true bargain.
With more and more people leaving eBay it makes that possibility more than likely to be successful.

Keep an eye out for the funny offers for posting to the “laughable” thread.
Every single eBay search i do is littered with fakes, it doesn't matter which series. Filtering location to US only gets rid of about half of them.
They are doing a lot of early Lincolns as well- I am not talking SVDBs, but 13 -S, 17 D, you name it. It s just a shame -

I think there are a bunch of things going on:
A 2025 investigation revealed that operatives linked to ISIS used eBay to move money internationally. They created fake listings and processed phantom transactions to launder funds under the radar of financial institutions:

Its too bad because small time sellers need a marketplace that gets enough traffic to be able to
move legitimate inventory.
If you include "US Only" on your saved searches, that filters out the vast majority of the counterfeit coins located internationally.

It has definitely gotten much worse recently.
Collector, occasional seller
Occasionally I'll see something on ebay that piques my interest, but those instances are much fewer and further between. There used to be more actual auctions on ebay. Now, it seems to be a lot of BiNs that are overpriced. Case in point for what I mostly collect (US Large Cents)... there are over 41,000 listings in that category. Only ~1850 of them are auctions... and of those, only 156 are certified (PCGS, NGC, CAC, ANACS, or ICG) over all grades. Narrowing this down to the grades I'm mostly looking for... F15 to AU58... and this gives me a grand total of 24 coins to look at and "weed out" the "details grade" coins... yeah, the pickins' is slim!
