The Interstate Coin Club Labor Day Weekend show was today. There was a good crowd and sales were exceptional. I do not run the show nor do I set up, but I was there with the dealers most of the day promoting the Gettysburg Show. BJ Knuckles sold two 20 count trays of earlier assorted date large cents and one dealer sold a 1799 $10 gold piece in AU. The dealers were happy with their sales and reported collector grade coins were in high demand, as well as affordable gold pieces.
..
I bought 2 1909 Lincoln cents, 1910 and 1925 in beautiful RB Unc, 1879 S Morgan Prooflike MS64 (raw), 1882 S Morgan MS63 (raw), 1917 P Mercury dime lightly toned MS64 SB (raw), 1940 S Mercury dime MS65 (raw) with light blue toning and a 1956 Franklin half MS65 FBL (raw). I know! I know! This post is useless without pictures. I sold some 90% silver, war nickels and 7 40% silver Kennedy halves.
..
Whenever I left there had been no security problems.

Would love to see a picture of the "1799 $20 gold piece in AU." :D

Unfortunately, I did not take a picture of the coin before he sold it.

I am glad to hear that the show turned out good and there was some activity going on at multiple levels of the market. I was just in Hagerstown last weekend and a dealer at a shop there told me about the show. However, sadly, I knew that I was going to be leaving on this past Monday or Tuesday. Traveling for work and being somewhere different all of the time, I frequently check coin show websites and stop into coin stores and see what the local climate and schedule is for the circular discs of metal that we all love as well as other collectibles.

    Chance favors the prepared mind.

There is no such a thing as a "1799 $20 gold piece". It was probably a $10 gold coin.

    Or maybe 1899?

An 1899 $20 gold piece in AU is nothing to get excited about since they currently sell as bullion.

I only got to one Hagerstown show when I lived in Pennsylvania. If I remember correctly, it was a nice show. Gettysburg is one of the best medium sized shows that exists. I’m giving a talk at October’s PAN show in Monroeville.

My mistake, it was a 1799 $10 gold priced at $21k. I can't remember if it was NGC or PCGS. Halfway Coin Exchange had it.
