Older handmade coin rolls I acquired quite some time ago...Thoughts?

Full disclosure...posting these because @OAKSTAR made me do it :blush:

The story was that they came from an older relative who stashed a few dozen of these in a box early WW2.
After I bought them I put them away with many of my other rolls and hadn't really thought about them until recently when Oakstar asked if anyone has come across handmade customer rolls in the CRH thread.

I think I have 12 or 16 of these rolls. Some are folded closed, some are taped, and some have folded wadded paper stuffed in the ends.
I don't remember how many I actually have and they are currently still stashed away in one my storage unit boxes.
The pics were taken before I added some stuff to my storage a few years ago...

    Those newspapers articles show some phenomenal history! Let alone what might be inside!!

    Look at the text and date. Four months before Pearl Harbor! Talks about March Field and P-40 pursuit ships (Aircraft) caught in the fog! "Five Army Pursuit Planes Are Missing"

    I would open at least one just to see what I have after all these were wrapped before some varieties were discovered. Or before some were deemed rare.

    I peeked in one when I first got them. I think I remember seeing a 1920's penny. I'll definitely get back to them at some point and post the results...

    Hmmm. They all conveniently show interesting wartime headlines and news. There doesn't appear to be any tape used (which would help verify, or rule out, their age). 🧐

    Your wrappers are a lot more fun than mine.
    I've always just used a piece of paper when I'm out of coin wrappers. I just write the total on the wrapper. My bank is always happy to just get the coinage.

    Actually they don't all show wartime headlines and news as you can see in that bottom roll in the first bag of 4 up above. I only took a couple pics of the ends. When I get them back out I'll add some photos.

    Those radio stations coexisted in NYC until 1957. Do they come from around there? Look at the other side of the second—that happened in 1941 also.

    Intriguing stash there. I would open each carefully to preserve the paper. If there are sections that are untattered, I would photograph any interesting articles, images and ads. And now, to get back to the coins ...

    WJZ is a Baltimore clear-channel AM station - it's now sports radio.

    WJZ moved from NYC to Balto in 1957. WOR left NY to SC years earlier.
