In the 2025 proof quarters this year, the Dr Vera Rubin coin is almost entirely relief; the only part that's in the field are the words "Dark Matter". I thought that was pretty cool.

I met Dr. Rubin many years ago. Her daughter was an astronomy professor at UMass Amherst when I was a grad student there. It's good to see astronomy and space exploration themes on our coins, and to recognize the work of some of the people involved.

A very interesting design for the Rubin coin. The portrait is especially well done.

According to experts, coins are made of nearly 75% dark matter and maybe 95% dark energy! WOW!
