I'm excited for the Vikings - they've improved their roster so if JJ McCarthy even has a decent season they should do pretty well.

The Vikings have FINALLY improved the offensive line! This should help the young quarterback a lot.
Thy have also signed a couple of defensive lineman ho look like big improvements.

Hoping McCarthy turns out to be solid QB. You never know with rookie.

    GO VIKINGS!

Speaking of Perkdog, as crazy as this sounds, I think 60-1 odds on the Patriots is actually showing them some love. I thought the odds would be a lot higher. The bookies must see something there, and in my opinion based on that, the Patriots have a long shot chance.

Compared to the Cowboys at the exact same 60-1 odds. I thought the Cowboys would be lower than that, perhaps much lower. Bookies showing no love at all for the Cowboys. Based on that, I think the Cowboys have no chance whatsoever. Jerry Jones this upcoming season after the games, will be doing a good number of apologetic press conferences - LOL

Looks like another very long losing season for New York City area NFL fans.

Maybe that's good. Instead of following NFL football, they can catch-up on household chores they've been putting off. 😉

    @stevek

    here ya go...

I Will Not Eat Anything with Mint nor Will I Ever Eat A Hotdog Again….

This was back in 87 with my wrestling dudes; Tony wrestled #167 Skoal mint and wintergreen - Ralph wrestled #145 Skoal wintergreen - and me wrestling weight #119 Skoal straight…

The three of us decided to get a couple of 6’ers and stop at Skyway for a few Chicago dog’s; eat, drink, and play football by Ralph’s house...

remember the Blues Brothers movie when the car jumped over the bridge; well that’s 95th street and Skyway is at the corner at 95th and Ewing…now too if you would take 95th further east you would end up in Cal Park where I had grammar school football practice, and during high school we would run Cal for pre-wrestling workouts during the later summer/early fall and if you’re running the east perimeter of the park, you need to be careful so you don't fall into Lake Michigan….

Um the 3 of us were back by Ralph’s pounding a few Millers’ and eating hotdogs, and then we starting horsing around playing football…well it was more like Rugby; Just smash the shit out of the guy with the football…I know I got pummeled by Ralph and landed on my ass…
I screamed, OH SHIT as loud as I could; they were like are you OK??? I said, “No I broke my Skoal can in my back pocket” I have'nt put a Skoal can in my back pocket since then...

As I stood up, I said we need a time out…so we shot-gunned a few more beers…I said: Hey Tony throw me a dip, so he tossed me his can and I loaded up and said; OK Game On… We continued to play football…Yep like I said more like rugby and maybe a few minutes later; Tony speared me in the gut…

Now this is where it gets exciting….I swallowed that Nasty Ass Mint and started hurling up the yellow mustard from the hotdog’s & beer, small bits of the relish got stuck in my throat as with the back wash from the Skoal mint, now I’m starting to dry heave and more came up of: relish, mustard, and bits of hotdogs, I’m still coughing, dry heaving, and a chunk of hotdog got stuck & lodged in my nose…I tried to blow my nose several times, and then out came that chunk of the hotdog…Um that was Pretty Gross with that hotdog stuck in there...

I Will Not Eat Anything with Mint nor Will I Ever Eat A Hotdog Again….

60-1 is still long odds. However 20 bucks gets ya 12 hundred is an interesting flyer. Considering that I don't see any standout team this upcoming season.

Frankly, I'm iffy on the Eagles repeating, and I don't think the Chiefs will be back in the Super Bowl. The losing Super Bowl team historically, usually doesn't have a good following season. Always exceptions of course.

So if the Patriots can sneak into the playoffs, then ya never know.

I think the Chiefs, Bills, Ravens will be to much for them SB wise. Id throw in the Bengals too if they stop getting hurt. Chargers will always do Charger things and deserve to lose until they sell the team.

That said though it is a fun little bet that costs about as much as a basket of wings at the bar. One of my friends did something like a 10 dollar bet for the Marlins and White Sox to win their divisions. Hes obviously going to lose but the payout would have been obscene and all he lost was basically the cost of a beer at the ball game.

I like fun little bets like that from time to time

Detroit does not appear to have regressed.

Vikings have upgraded both lines, Bears improved their offensive line, but they were very bad offensively last year.

I don't see the Packers winning this division. They will battle Minnesota for 2nd place if McCarthy is any good at all.

It sounds like the Packers could save themselves from injury and embarrassment by just taking this season off.

If the Bengals can even go 2-2 instead of 0-4 like they usually do the best bets are,
    Bengals over 9.5 wins
    Bills over 11.5

I'm already planning on betting against the Bengals the first 2 games of the season I don't expect them. to start 0 and 4 again or whatever but they just can't win out of the gate to start the season and it always bites them in the rear end

If they miss the playoffs this year then Zach Taylor needs the axe

Houston Texans safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson was reportedly carted off the field during his team's training camp session on Thursday (August 7), ESPN's DJ Bien-Aime reports.

"#Texans CJ Gardner-Johnson was carted off. He did not walk to the sidelines or anything. He was carted off from the spot he was injured," Bien-Aime wrote on his X account, having noted that Gardner-Johnson was "initially laying on his stomach in pain as he smacked the floor" and "eventually rolled over" in an earlier post.

Gardner-Johnson reportedly went to tackle wide receiver John Metchie III during a scrimmage and fell to the ground after making contact. Players and coaches surrounded the injured safety as the medical team helped him onto the car as he was unable to put pressure on his right leg, according to Bien-Aime.

Character concerns though… right? Unless you listen to BB21 no one thought he didn’t project at rd 1-2 talent at QB but the concerns were his character and the drama that might surround him. While part of that might spin as the showtime brand the kid does seem immature.

Regarding Jacksonville I think their defense is getting credit it has yet to earn.

No doubt drama was an issue, pre draft did he get into any trouble though? I really didn't follow him much until draft day but for sure he was projected to be #1 for awhile on my Draft Kings betting app

"Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders' speeding citation for driving 101 mph this week wasn't the first time he was cited for speeding in Ohio this month.

According to a Medina [Ohio] Municipal Court record that was filed June 6, Sanders was pulled over by the Ohio State Patrol earlier this month. In that alleged violation, which took place June 5 in Brunswick Hills, Ohio, the Ohio State Patrol told WJW-TV that Sanders was stopped for driving 91 mph in a 65 mph zone."

The "problem" with Sanders is character, not talent. I mean not even the regular season yet, and already he is in trouble with the law. Driving over 100 miles an hour? That's self-destructive behavior.

Perhaps that's okay for defensive players. But for a quarterback, really not a good idea to have a guy like this as a team leader.

He might make the team, but he also might wind-up being more trouble than he's worth. Right now, i think that is the more likely scenario to his NFL career.

I was talking about in College, I thought Deion had him under wraps for the most part but like I said I didn't really follow him much

I didn’t hear anything from the college days. I also don’t know if he’s of poor character, but was the prevailing headline regarding his draft slide that I remember hearing. Honestly I thought that was mostly FUD and I would have put my money on Rd 2. I’m shocked he slid to 5 but we’ve also seen how that pans out. Once all the likely homes pass once or twice everyone starts second-guessing. I hope he does well in the NFL. I’m rooting for him because of that slide in the draft.

I watched highlights of Sanders performance on Youtube, and checked his stats in the game.

Frankly to me, nothing all that impressive, as some media pundits are gushing over him. I saw some good things, but also some bad things. Typical of a rookie QB. No picks so that was good. But it was pre-season and was against the Panthers. In any event, he may have made the team off that performance.

I couldn't care less either way. Perhaps ten years from now we will be discussing his illustrious NFL career, but I sincerely doubt it.

I'm curious how the guy the Browns drafted 2 rounds before him did lol

I really haven't been following it closely at all. I'm not sure if the Browns have cut any QB's yet or not?

Pickett and Gabriel have bad hamstrings so not playing. Flacco is the starter so probably won't see any pre season action.
Browns picked up Tyler Huntley to replace the injured QBs.

:) Denver wins 30-9 tonight vs. the 49rs.

This has nothing to do with this pre season game but I am really high on Denver being good this year

It's a shame that this kick didn't happen during the actual season.

I remember hearing talk from guys that cover the NFL saying that Shedeur went into some of his pre-draft interviews with a sense of an entitlement and that he really rubbed teams the wrong way with how he handled answering their questions. Sort of like he was doing them a favor by being there and not the other way around.

Then after each interview, someone connected with these pre-draft interviews made sure that word got out that this was how Sanders was comporting himself to teams and at that point it wasn't really surprising that it all spiraled out of control like it did.
