So Ebay gift card codes cannot be used on coins or bullion? That sucks...

I was all set to get a 1986 Silver Eagle BU in capsule and I was sitting on a few Ebay gift card codes but apparently I can't use them for coins or bullion? That's super weak...

I was not aware of that, but if there is a limitation it would apply to items listed in those categories.
If you can find the coin listed in another category then that would bypass the limitation. Sometimes people list coins or billion in non-coin categories.
I guess I could use them in one of my other hobbies, like baseball cards.

What if you find a motivated seller willing to list the coin in the art category or something - maybe that would do the trick?
Sometimes. The fees to the seller are higher in the other categories, so they would have to be really motivated.

I learned this a couple years ago. Agreed, it sucks, since coins are the only thing I use eBay for anymore.
Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.
A quick search for Silver Eagles turned up quite a few in the "Collectables" category, for example.
As always, beware of counterfeits.
This works, unless you live in a State with a sales tax but no tax on bullion. If underwear and bullion are taxed the same - then it is a great workaround.
