1830 Large Cent-Medium Letters or Large Letters??

Is this the Medium Letters or Large Letters cent? To me, it matches the Medium Letters, but my eyes aren't as good as they used to be. LOL!

I vote for Large letters based on the shape and length of the bottoms of the letters

Also the (crossbar?) of the A in states looks like it sags in the medium variety. The upper serif on the last S of states slants in on the medium and appears strait on the large.

And finally, the last S of states is farther from the rim on the large, and closer on the medium.

I'd say ML because of the middle serif of the F. For LL it looks to be more curved, whereas in ML the serif is more like a straight line.

Interesting point, so I re-analyzed the letters and found the middle serif of the F to go higher on the LL and was more stubby on the ML.

Also I think the easiest diagnostics are the last S of states distance from denticles Far on the LL, Close on the ML.

I am not familiar with this variety and am basing all my statements on my own visual analysis with coinfacts images, as I perceive it.

Definitely Large Letters. If I remember, only N-6 has the Medium Letters which requires the top of the D to be near level with the Leaf Tip and the top of the E is level with the S. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Hmmm... I've always just gone by the coinfacts website... I draw a straight line up from the last leaf. A Large Letters runs into the "S" in States, a Medium Letters has the "S" completely to the left of the line: Based on this, I'm seeing Medium Letters...

    You’re not wrong, Jim.
N6 is the only Medium Letters variety of the 10 varieties of 1830 large cents.

I didn’t check the leaf tip relative to the D, as the E and S is pretty obvious, so I stopped there, but that is another reliable marker.

    Wow I never noticed that
Except I just re-checked coinfacts and there are two different S positions for large letters attributed there. N1 and N8 show behind the Leaf for LL, all others seems to be centered on leaf. Unless they are incorrectly attributed
I am confused at this point.

...and now I'm officially confused as well. This was one reason I found Redbook varieties of Middle Dates to be "challenging"...
