Remember the days where they used to give grading vouchers when you joined. Those were the days.

Until they bring that back I'm out of club membership, especially at higher renewal rate.
    No value anymore.

The specials are offered monthly as a way of keeping the flow of cards coming in.

In this month, they have the National and I know a decent number of collectors who go with the main goal of submitting and I know a few who go mainly for the on-site grading, feature. Given the number of graders at the show and the number of takeback subs, they will probably have good monthly flow and if they went ‘under’ for August, then maybe there will a greater number of specials offered in September and perhaps some will be closer to being in your wheelhouse.

I still have a membership but I do miss the old perks. I never even claim the free virtual packs, spots in pack rip breaks or whatever other ‘bonus’ that you get for joining and I can’t recall the last time a submission came up that appealed to me other than an Express submission wherein I sent in two items and one was upcharged, negating any savings on the submission.

But like Billy Joel says in Keeping the Faith:

You can get just so much from a good thing
You can linger too long in your dreams
Say goodbye to the oldies but goodies
Cause the good old days weren’t always good and tomorrow ain’t as bad as it seems

To add, I almost forgot but I do like looking through the magazine each month so there’s still that. I also wish I kept better track of how many cards used to come with a membership mostly for my own curiosity. Maybe 5-7?

I’d give Lance Armstrongs left nut for even 2-3 freebies now. 🤪.

I’d be lying if I said I didn't still submit once in awhile. I enjoy the hobby and having graded items mixed into my collection and it’s great protection for the item and professional opinion rendered.

I used to submit thousands of cards a year. Now it's virtually zero. Who are the idiots that are submitting millions of cards at $20+ a pop? I know more than 50% are gaming cards. Is there a never ending demand to get those things graded?
