My 1902-S PCGS MS63 CAC Morgan does not exist...what to do?

I completed my Registry Set of Morgans about two years ago. I was checking my inventory when it went missing. No big deal as I entered the cert number and it came up invalid. I contacted PCGS and they said that the coin was deleted with a system up date and that I would have to resubmit the coin at their cost. It would be a blue label and no CAC...I would have to resubmit to CAC also. CAC shows the coin as valid. What to do? I love this label but now I have a 99% completed set. Take care...CC

I suggest that you take photos of the holder, front and back.
Then contact PCGS CS, using these instructions. Include the CAC verification information to bolster your case.
In your communication, request that they add this coin back to their records based on the photos.
@PCGS_Hy - If you disagree with this direction, please provide alternate instructions. Thanks.
It had been in my Registry Set for quite some time.

DO NOT RESUBMIT!!
as it would bother the S#%T out of my OCD
This is an issue that PCGS needs to fix 100%
Don't give up until the system recognizes this coin/serial number once again.
Try emailing Hy @pcgssetregistry@collectors.com
Hopefully he can, and should, fix this problem.
BTW, I feel your frustration
Also wanted to add.. Nice Coin
DO NOT RESUBMIT THAT COIN!!!!!
That CAC decal is so well centered and place on the slab, yes- don't resubmit.

It does not make sense that they would have to re-holder this coin. Even if you have to send it to them, they should be able to easily verify that it is an original PCGS product and reinstate the certificate number without doing anything to the holder.
Collector, occasional seller
Reactivating the number would require someone with intelligence to perform a function outside of the normal workflow. The easy button for them is to submit the coin to their automated standard workflow and inconvenience the customer. This is customer service version 2025.
Appreciated advise from the group above. The PCGS e-mail this morning put a slant on my day. I will just cool my heels for a while. I will add that when this coin went invalid last week there was a $80,000 Chinese PCGS coin in my inventory. I deleted and moved on...funny . Take care...CC
I don't actively participate in the registry, but understand that it's important to many collectors. I hope PCGS is able to find a way to correct the issue here without a resubmission.
Hello...Even without the Registry the coin shows invalid on the PCGS Verification sight. I would think that this could cause difficulties in the future. Take care...CC
It goes beyond registry - it may make it harder to sell the coin because it comes up as “invalid cert number” when searched.
Apologies, I thought this was just a registry issue but you are correct it's as if the coin was never certified. Let's hope PCGS takes the steps to correct this and keep it in it's original holder
It's unfortunate that database errors like these occur and are not easily fixed; instead the reholdering/restickering route is a huge pain.
But it may get even worse.
Since PCGS shares their cert database info with CAC, the problem may spread if CAC gets an updated version of the PCGS database.
If so, it may become invalid at CAC as well.

This isn't looking good yosclimber. Take care...CC
edited to add: I also lost all of the coins records...date of purchase, purchased from, memos, etc.
Thanks...CC
As others have astutely pointed out, there is a definite downside to following the original direction from PCGS (i.e., reholder). Namely, you would lose your 'Museum GEN 3.0/OGH'. Additionally, there is no guarantee that the coin would sticker again at CAC.
OTOH, there is not a lot of downside to asking PCGS about this a second time.
I humbly suggest waiting a couple of days to see if @PCGS_Hy posts something to your thread. Any 'info/advice' he shares could facilitate your efforts.
Good Luck !!!
Edited to correct a typo.
PCGS needs to fix this. I would not resubmit. It would be terrible to lose the OGH and the sticker. Though inconveniently, the sticker can be replaced but the OGH cannot.

What does "at their cost" include? Just submission fees? What about shipping and insurance to and from PCGS, CAC resticker fees, shipping & insurance to and from CAC, and the loss of value from losing the OGH? Is that all included? If it's not, I wouldn't consider resubmitting that coin for a technical problem that can likely be fixed with 30 seconds of work from someone in the tech department.

This seems to be more widespread of an issue, it seems that a lot of the older PCGS holder coins are coming up with errors as not being valid
Check out these certs
2640347
3071423
3102361
All coming up as not valid certs
All 3 coins are listed on GC right now, I have sent an email to GC saying that there is a problem with the cert

IT IS IN THE CAC DATABASE. PCGS MESSED UP AND DELETED IT FROM THEIR DATABASE BY MISTAKE.

PCGS sent me an email and link to acquire a free shipping label. Geeze...just look at it...
Edited to add: as per MetroD's link I sent a very nice e-mail. take care...enjoy your coins...CC
This has been an ongoing problem for many years where a cert gets invalidated, and PCGS only answer is to reholder the coin with a new cert.
There are a lot of old rattlers that have this problem, and for most people who collect them, reholdering isnt an option.
I hope you can get it fixed, but quite a few people have been tilting at this windmill for many years with no success....
Well...PCGS just sent me an e-mail for the second time and said I was SOL.
Any database manager worth their salt should be able to remedy your situation without having to have it cracked and re-holdered.

Also...How does everyone else feel about the fact that at any time their coins could be invalid. Not a good selling point. Take care...CC
I've never met anyone who has had a problem getting this fixed if you're willing to let them reholder it. So for the majority of collectors, its a minor inconvenience. The only people who will have a problem are people who collect old holders.
Right on the Money...
I have NOT cross checked the cert information with the GC listings, but CURRENTLY I am getting valid cert responses from PCGS when I check these three numbers.
1) 2640347

Source: https://www.pcgs.com/cert/02640347
2) 3071423

Source: https://www.pcgs.com/cert/03071423
3) 3102361

Edited to Add: "CURRENTLY".
While it might end up being a futile exercise, I’d spend the time to try to reach someone and make the request over the phone. And I’d ask for a manager, if necessary.

When I enter the cert number 6403106 it says it's a 1902-S dollar ms63. However the pic with it is of some Chinese coin. So I think that you're probably ok. You might want PCGS to look at it though.
As BAFFERFAN mentioned, the cert currently comes up as good with the correct details save for an image of an unrelated coin that does not have the same cert number. It would be nice if PCGS would remove the obvious linking error of the wrong coin, but at least your coin shows up with the correct information again.

Thanks everyone. That's the Chinese coin. It must of come up this morning...that brings hope. Take care...CC
edited to add that the Chinese coin had a catalogue value of $80,000
Got this response from GC this morning

Hi Mike,
Thank you for your email. I believe PCGS has been updating and or doing maintenance to their system so it may have been down when you were checking. I was able to pull up the cert numbers for the three coins you emailed about and have included the links below.
All seems now to be good, lets hope it stays that way

This.
I checked the OP's cert number as recently as this morning (my time). And, as the OP initially reported, it returned as invalid. Now, it works, except for the anomalous image.
Same issue with the three cert numbers from GC that @alaura22 reported as invalid. They did not work when he checked them. But, they work now.
Perhaps it has something to do with the transition to the new cert verification page (i.e., not all of the records were accessible from the start).
Regardless, I am happy that the OP does not have to get his coin reholdered.
Oh my...the day just improved. Coin is in my inventory and back in the Registry. All the information came back also. I had forgotten that it was a David Lawrence coin from a while back. I want to thank everyone again...all the Big Boys came out. So far so good...take care...CC

I’m very glad to hear it worked out. That said, it’s unfortunate that you apparently received two different incorrect replies from PCGS representatives, which would have resulted in undesirable outcomes.

PCGS sent a very nice e-mail and they will make an exception. I think they just wanted that yellow gasket back LOL. Take care...enjoy your coins...CC
