Post a coin you love, but only bought because you “needed” it for your set

Hi all,
I’ve really enjoyed the forums here for years and decided to join recently to participate in the discussion and share my own collection.
I’ve pursued several different avenues within the hobby since I was a kid, and currently am in the process of putting together a 7070 type set of “nicest and most appealing example I can afford”. My daughters are involved in the hunt now, which makes this a really fun endeavor.
I’m nearing the final handful of coins needed to complete our set, then I’ll include it all in the registry and look forward to sharing it with others. (Wont be anywhere near a top rated set and I’ve tried to focus more on eye appeal than pure numeric grade fwiw). It will probably never be “finished” but we’re excited to complete the set.
Putting together a 7070 set is fun and very educational for many reasons, but definitely includes “having” to buy some coins that one otherwise probably never would. When doing so, I try hard to stick to the same standards of eye appeal that I’d apply to the series that I’ve always been more interested in pursuing.
I’d love to see some examples of coins you all have added to your collections purely because you “needed it” for your sets.
A lot of my set is currently at our hosts, but here a couple recent pick ups for my current 7070. I’m finally getting around to the moderns

Do you want to see my entire collection?
For me it is the Kennady half, a very unappealing design in my opinion that I only bought for my 7070.

I’m with @Barberian on this one.
With a mintage of 53,190,000, the 1943 Walker is the most common coin in the whole Walker series. I’m an early Walker guy, so I really prefer the tougher earlier dates. I bought this 67 just for my registry set to be complete and for points..
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

How do you feel about the Franklin design?

No real love for $3 gold pieces but I needed one for my gold type set. For the price, I’d much rather have a mint state Saint.
Hahaha yeah I struggled a bit with how to word my title there.
I once put a set of Barber quarters together. Using that series as an example, I guess what I really meant was “let’s see some gorgeous looking 1916 Ds.”
Some neat coins posted so far, guys!
Here's three nice common date coins purchased recently for my set.

As a rule I don't expect to complete my sets. I try to disciple myself to not buy coins I feel are overvalued by the price guides. There are many examples of them in the 144 Classic Commemorative set. There are also some undervalued coins in the set and those are the ones I buy for my 50 coin set. Even though it is grossly undervalued, I really had a hard time buying this better date Washington Carver for the 50 coin set. The obverse isn't so bad; but, that weakly struck U.S.A. on the map of the United States is sad. I wouldn't say I love it; but, I was pretty happy to get it.

I got "Seated Liberty" fatigue when I put my 7070 together... lol. Don't get me wrong, I like the design but there's 76 coins in the album (without gold) and I think something like 14? of them are of the Seated Liberty design...

Ha….i think I’m at Kennedy fatigue after finally picking up just the 3.
Here’s one I bought purely because I needed it for my set. As for love? Well I guess I love it exactly as much as I paid for it. It’s no piece of copper, but for what it is, it’s pretty nice.

Other than the Lincoln cent which is my core collection and love (less for the design but because of my respect and admiration for the man Lincon) I find all coinage that has a dead president/dignitary on them as mundane and unappealing. I much prefer designs that depict some form or artist rendition of lady Liberty. Even many of the modern commemoratives are much more aesthetic than the vast bulk of circulating coinage in the past 70ish years.
