GCC Currency Certification Banknote Sticker Service

Hi everyone,
With over 20 years of professional grading experience and, most recently, serving as Vice President at PMG, I wanted to introduce you to the new GCC currency certification sticker service and provide some information, as well as help answer any questions.
The GCC Gold and Evergreen stickers highlight high-quality banknotes within their numeric grade. Since value and opportunity can vary among banknotes of the same grade, the GCC currency certification sticker offers a way to recognize those notes with superior eye appeal. The coin industry has witnessed such a service bring growth and potential for collectors and dealers alike, and GCC is proud to offer this new service to you with transparency and accessibility.
In today’s market, banknotes are required to be graded for maximum potential. Once graded, the banknotes fall into three basic levels within the assigned numeric grade:
Qualifier - A banknote that meets the basic criteria for the numeric grade. Resembles eye appeal on the lower end of the spectrum for that grade.
Evergreen - A banknote with a strong eye appeal for the numeric grade. Representing strength in the market with more growth potential.
Gold - A banknote with top level desirability and eye appeal that lies on the higher end of the spectrum for the numeric grade. Representing top market desirability for that grade with high growth potential.
Have you ever submitted a banknote and felt it was close to the next grade—or looked exceptional for the grade it received? Notes like these deserve to sell for more than others with the same grade but less eye appeal. Backed by experience and a trusted reputation, GCC brings confidence to the industry with a service to spotlight and add value to banknotes.

Hopefully they don’t put these stickers directly on the banknotes themselves like authentication companies like to put stickers directly on autographs themselves. Fortunately whenever one gets a banknote graded it always gets “slabbed” and doesn’t have an option for a sticker on item with separate COA letter/card like the autograph authentication companies do.
Can you imagine?
This is a cool service. Its like CAC but for banknotes.
The sticker will be placed next to the grade, not obstructing anything on the label. Here is an example of the gold.

That sounds cool
Hi Everyone,
I wanted to share some good questions asked on another forum with the answers included (see below). I hope you find the answers and information useful, and please let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks!
—————————————
“Do you review any and all notes (U.S., World, etc.) and types (U.S. obsoletes and scrip come to mind, as well as contemporary counterfeits) from any TPG (PMG, PCGS, Legacy, etc.)? — We review notes certified by third party grading companies that are currently sold and accepted in the industry’s auction companies. All certified types US and World are acceptable.
Are altered, NET graded, repaired, cleaned, previously mounted, etc. type notes eligible for this service? — Banknotes which include mentioned characteristics, etc. are eligible, but may have a lower percentage of receiving a sticker simply due to the eye appeal hindrance they can have as a result. The GCC currency sticker is applied based on the eye appeal the banknote possesses within that numerical grade. A strict level of criteria is necessary for achieving either sticker, and the application does not exclude a note from having or not having certain characteristics. As mentioned, the GCC sticker is applied based on eye appeal for that specific numerical grade.
Will you sticker mislabeled notes (wrong catalog #, variety, description, etc.)? — The GCC banknote sticker is strictly applied based on the banknote grade itself and is not connected in conjunction with the label catalog #, variety, description, etc. GCC will always do everything possible to help the customer have the best represented banknote, and work to help with all parties involved when necessary.
Is the GCC sticker only based on the eye appeal of the note? — The GCC sticker is applied to banknotes with strong (evergreen) and elite level (gold) eye appeal for the given numerical grade. There are three levels of eye appeal when it comes to numerical grades — Qualifiers (non-stickered notes), Evergreen and Gold. With various degrees of eye appeal for numerical grades, similar to coins, the GCC sticker highlights notes that have the same grade but a higher level of eye appeal for that numerical grade, as mentioned. The sticker will NOT be applied to notes based on low populations, rarity, etc. or anything outside the grade and its relation to its eye appeal for the given numerical grade.
How does it relate to paper quality designations, or does it not? — The GCC currency sticker does relate to EPQ/PPQ and non-EPQ/non-PPQ grades. As with paper quality, there are many factors (at various degrees) that can affect EPQ/PPQ and the final grade. I’ve seen it happen thousands of times. Natural circulation can create gray areas with paper quality that are subjective. With so many different looks and factors that determine the final grade, and paper quality being an important one, the same numerical grades can be given with different levels of eye appeal surrounding paper quality. The GCC sticker also helps highlight these notes with different paper quality, and therefore is used on banknotes with and without EPQ/PPQ.
It will be interesting to see if the market embraces this. Any plans to do additional press, maybe join the podcast by greysheet for an episode? — GCC Global Collectibles Consulting was recently featured in the July issue Greensheet article by Art Friedberg. Please also follow us - Global Collectibles Consulting on Facebook. There you will find other GCC information along with a recent Jeff Garrett interview discussing a record breaking short snorter and value in the marketplace. It was a lot of fun and is receiving an amazing response. We have some great upcoming things, including on-site grading at ANA, banknote grading courses this year and at the 2026 January FUN Show. We will continue to share information to the industry via social media along with upcoming shows and publications.
As a value added service, GCC works to provide a transparent and accessible service for the entire industry, and elevate banknote collecting to the next level in numismatics.
Thank you for your questions and dialogue. I look forward to working further with everyone. Please feel free to call/email with questions or comments anytime.
****Please also note****
We are offering NO CHARGES for non-stickered notes on first time submissions. We want to work with the industry to help everyone understand how the GCC sticker adds value and be cost effective all around.
And if you’re going to the ANA, GCC is also grading on-site and taking submissions!! Please look for our show schedule to be posted shortly on gccgrading.com. Hope to see you all soon!

Chad Hawk
