I tried calling Stacks to find out more about this but they said they don't talk to strangers.
I read about that a few days ago (might have gotten an email). Looks like a very nice collection and I like the personal (marketing) touch of giving tickets and a meet and greet to the biggest purchaser from the auction.
I didn’t read if they were getting a special label. That would be fun provenance to have.
I have a few problems with these new finagled so-called pedigrees/provenances. What if he bought a couple yesterday so to say and that goes for any so-called pedigree/provenance. Which is why the only pedigrees/provenances are those of long dead numismatically inclined collectors who had the knowledge as well as the funds a long time ago when they were walking on this planet
ok. which one of you here is rick springfield?
Wow those operators could use a little more human touch
Rick looks incredible for 75 years of age.
Here he is interviewed about his coin collection by David Hall, founder of PCGS.
Beats restraining orders 🤨
I would have expected anybody named Springfield to collect Buffaloes.
I wish that I had Rick‘s coin collection..Why can’t I find a Coin like that? Lol

And what if Pittman or Eluasberg bought the coin the day before he died? What's the difference?
The last coin Eliasberg bought might be the best and the first coin he bought might be the worst.
Buy the coin not the pedigrees. Eliasberg and Pittman also owned a lot of junk.
jmlanzaf,
I don't necessarily disagree. Its really unfair when a long dead great numismatic collector's dies and his entire collection is auctioned off, since if he were alive he may not have wanted his dogs to be included with his good stuff, but alas he is dead and has no control over the auction. The auction house wants to dispose of the entire collection the gold and the dogs in its entirety. bUy the coin and not the pedigree is a very well known saying, but if one can find a great coin with a great pedigree I would think that would be the winner. And great pedigrees are known to have great coins so the odds are with you

That Saint is awesome! I am interested in one of them listed.
I would rather have Jesse's girl ...
She's 80 now
lol. Might still be better than some of his coins
Altered Surfaces?
How many sold-out shows does it take to get a HR Saint like that?
Bet ya one of the coins sells for 86,753.09
What if Stacy's mom was Jessie's girl and her number was?

A couple - I heard that touring is where the artists really make their money. That is a $350K coin, so $175K a show. $100 tickets 5,000 people, $500K a show and you need to clear $175K seems doable.
And just 40 years since his appearance at the Live Aid concert.
I saw this the other day, I listen to rick often as he does guest DJ on 80's on xm radio weekly.
I told my wife about him collecting coins, (I had no idea) she loves rick springfield, she often went to his concerts when she was younger.
Hope the "j" in your forum name doesn't stand for "Jesse"!
I was listening to him on the 80s channel on XM radio one day while driving. He told the story of where the song Jesse's Girl came from. It was based on a time in his youth when he actually was infatuated with the girlfriend of one of his closest pals. Trouble was, his pal's name was Gary. To Rick, the name Gary just didn't sound right in the song; so he changed it to Jesse and the rest is rock & roll history.

We watched Californication years ago. I just recalled Rick played himself on that series:

By the way speaking of Jesse's girl. (which my wife likes a lot by the way) A year or so ago, Rick while hosting XM DJ played the spanish version of this song he did for a concert or special occasion in Mexico or central american, It sounded quite cool and really good, but I have not been able to find it anywhere .
To keep coin related: Looking at some of his gold, some really cool stuff he accumulated. It surprising that his intrest didnt leak out as so many other famous artists & high profile people intrests do.
Would she be "vintage" material now?
Or rifles.
I think so
Costa Mesa is the location.
Those coins are gonna Costa Plente;
