Remember when? I miss eBay bucks!

I was thinking earlier this week about how cool the eBay bucks system was. It was such a fun way to build up discounts when buying stuff from sellers on eBay.
It made for a lot of conversation and excitement at times. I even remember threads posted here alerting folks to new (at the time) eBay bucks offers. It was a bummer to see it fade away. I forgot it ended in 2022/2023, I thought it died out before then.
The best current equivalent is getting 1% back on all eBay purchases through Acorns. It just is not the same though.

Sucks. I feel like whatnot has a similar thing with whatnot credit, but it definitely isn't the same.

Wooooha! Did someone just say it's officially "TACO™" Tuesday????
Sure was nice.
Anybody remember the Microsoft, was it called payback? My way back memory falters on the name. Around early 2000’s. It was a program that paid back directly to you anywhere from 10 to at least 30 percent from a purchase on eBay. It was limited per account, but it was still awesome. I bought some CC gold and Morgans. It was a heck of a deal.
That does sound like a great program, I had not heard of that previously.

eBay bucks was a nice program and the bonus offers were fun, especially when they popped up just as I was debating a coin (and they helped seal the deal). Credit card rewards are something that you can still use (certain cards have 2% or 3% back consistently and Chase has a card that gives you 5% on PayPal purchases one quarter each year). Just make sure you pay off the card in this case; otherwise the interest is much higher than any reward earned.
I believe ending eBay bucks helped me end my buying and selling days. Kroger used to offer fuel points for eBay gift card purchases too. I would buy thousands of dollars worth of eBay gift cards, buy gold coins with them, resell what I could (some for not much over what I paid) and get tons in free gas and free eBay bucks that way. I would try to make a little on my sales too but the free gas and eBay bucks each month added up, as well as 2% cash back with my credit card.
Ebay bucks was great, but what I really miss is the Bing program from around 2008. My gosh, did I ever load up on gold at around 20-30% under its then-bullion value!

Yep. All the junk gold I own (not a lot) was purchased because eBay Bucks made it irresistible. Haven’t bought a coin on eBay for ages.
Smitten with DBLCs.
Ebay also used to throw around $5 certificates, not valid on coins, of course. But enterprising people would list silver in non-coin categories so that it could be used to buy free silver.
It would tip the scales from buying the same item from Amazon.
