Penny Question

I have friend with a penny from 1981 and is 75 percent struck on both sides a dealer here told him to get graded in your opinion after graded would it be worth the cost to be graded be enough for him to make a decent profit from doing this, also tried to post pic here but kept saying wrong format so don't know how to post a Pic of it. If have any thoughts for this let me know.

Without a picture, we would just be guessing but unless a coin is worth at least $200.00,
it does not pay to have it graded. From your description, it sounds like it may be an off centre
strike but condition would determine its value.
what is the format the pic is in?
75%?
does it look like that one?
I think jpg , but if you tell me how and what format I will try
It looks like that except more of penny shows up
About 20% is blank
I hope this worked
only major format it can't handle i can think of is some .webp format
it is easiest to jut drag and drop into the text box. or you can use the "browse" button to find it on your computer
i don't know the value. i don't think it is much
if it were an obscure or questionable error type i'd say grad it just to have an expert validate the error
in this case it is obvious what it is. i wouldn't have it graded
i am not an error guy but i guess 40% off center. you can look up "sold" sales on ebay to get an idea of value
I think it> @MsMorrisine said:
I agree with you guy,I don't collect penny's I collect other coins but he wants me to send it off but I think he thinks it might be in the higher hundreds value I just don't know much about these type of coins. So any advice would be helpful so I can lead him in right direction on this
Looks like someone may have polished it a bit.
was it polished?
Show friend the sold filter on eBay—

just check the "sold" items on ebay
https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=cent+("oc",+"o/c",+"off")+40+-nd+-dateless+-buy+-but+-x+-xx&_sacat=11116&_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_odkw=cent+("oc",+"o/c",+"off")+40+-nd+-dateless+-buy+-but&_osacat=11116&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1
there's a 1981 on there if you scroll down
find a cardboard 2x2 and put it in one
Not sure man, could be,but it's not real shiny to me kinda dull
I think maybe I took pic with too much light. I'm not really knowledgeable about how to take coin photos 🤔
As suggested, your friend just needs to look on ebay for comparable coins. But he must use the correct terminology: it's an Off Center Cent.
It has some value but it is not worth the cost of slabbing at one of the "big 2" TPGs. ANACS might be a better choice for a coin in this price range. Check their site to see how much it would cost with all shipping charges included.
there is that 1981 that sold for 29.75 or something close then there is the anacs 2000 one that sold for 48
the sstraight auctions have gone off for under $20 all in
maybe you could ask a coin store if they could submit to anacs for you >when they are submitting< too. (i'd suggest pcgs if it weren't cost prohibitive at the value level)
Best choice for value in the end, is to sell it as is on ebay or some other such platform. Not worth the grading fess at $25+. Grading just eats up the profit. Any buyer can see what it is. Just good pics, front and back and make sure "off center" is in the title.
good luck,
bob
Don't get it graded.
That was the thought I had when I first saw it myself, I thank everyone for the advice since I don't know much about penny's or error coins. But my gut told me don't have it graded, but I wish that dealer he took it to told him to do so.
