1943 Nickle Question, with pics.

I recently acquired a lot of old coins. I won't waste time by posting all of them, I've been image searching, etc. But the ones with damage/scratches, etc I would like to post up for opinions. Does the line on the back look like a scratch/gouge? Or something from the stamping? Thank you for your time.

That looks like post-strike damage/abuse.

Scratched on the reverse – damaged
Thanks all! This particular coin has been in a jar since the late 1940's, they were my Grandmothers brothers. I figured it was caused by damage, not sure how.
Far too much wear for the coin have been "in a jar since the late 1940's". It looks like it was pulled out of circulation in the late 1960s. It is just a damaged coin and not an error.
It must have had a hard early life. They have been stored that long.
post mint damage is all
There is no way it could be anything else but scratches.
Just a badly damaged nickel.
According to the Coinflation website, that nickel contains about $2.00 in silver, but you might get about $1.50.
I knew it would happen.
Looks cracked!
Wow....that coin really wore down fast!?
I think seeing a jar from the 1940's.......

He died in the 1940s and the jar was sealed?
memory fault?
Not completely sure. They were my Grandma's brothers, he died in the service somewhere in the early to mid 1940's. When she died in 2006 my dad got them and put them up in a closet and as far as I know he never looked at them. He passed two months ago so now I'm going through them. So I don't know all the exact details. I'm sure my Grandmother could have added to the collection anytime between her getting them in the 40's and 2006.
